While I wasn't surprised that some of our detractors were quick to make unsubstantiated claims of sectarian behaviour during our clubs celebration of our country's armed forces, the scale of the attack has been quite staggering.

Bearing in mind, apart from one photo of a small group of soldiers with a scarf, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever of sectarian behaviour from our supporters or those members of our armed forces to whom we paid tribute to.

A list of those attacking our club is as predictable as the content of their attacks. From the 'paedophile sympathiser' Mr G Spiers, to Tom English, 'figure of ridicule' George Galloway, 'sectarian bigot' Phil McGillivan and 'rabid republicans' Patrick Harvie, Alex Thomson, Roy Greenslade and Angela Haggerty; even the briefest look at those names shows us exactly what type of people they are and the agenda they are pushing.

Our armed forces are the envy of countries around the world, their reputation excellent and their bravery beyond question. Historically our armed forces have defended democracy and protected innocent people from enslavement by dictators and terrorist groups such as Adolf Hitler, Al Qaeda, and the IRA in its many guises. Our armed forces have bravely fought to preserve our freedom on foreign shores, thousands make the ultimate sacrifice and remain on those foreign shores where they are laid to rest. Would Alex Thomson be able to report from war zones without the dedication and protection of our brave armed forces? Our armed forces continue to fight those who would seek to deny democracy and freedom of speech in countries like Afghanistan, where the Taliban suppress and exterminate any who do not conform to their extremist views. I am proud of each and every one of those men and women who make up our armed forces and it is only right that our club should offer us the opportunity to acknowledge their bravery and show our appreciation for all that they do in making the world a safer place for ourselves, our children and our children's children.

That anyone would try to stop us from doing this is despicable and it shows them up for what they really are; cowards!

They hide behind their keyboards spreading a story which is without foundation but for one single image, with the sole intention of denying us the chance to show our appreciation, and why? Because it doesn't suit their republican agenda.

They write for republican publications, they ignore sectarianism when it is directed at Rangers supporters and they use their positions to spout their own bigoted views at every opportunity. Celtic supporters carry scarves proclaiming their manager to be a provo, glorify terrorist groups such as the IRA in all its forms, glorify terrorist acts against innocent men, women and children, insult our brave servicemen and women by refusing to acknowledge Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, and sing songs celebrating the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the murder of young Fusilier Lee Rigby by Islamic extremists on our streets, and their disgusting and vile actions go in the main unreported. The stench of their hypocrisy is overwhelming!

It is that hypocrisy which destroys any credibility their attacks over the last 24 hours may have. How can they possibly be offended at our club and our support, while at the same time refusing to condemn the bigoted, sectarianism which spews from the mouths of Celtic supporters wherever they travel?

Not one of them was at the match, and yet they have been at the forefront of the attacks on us through various media channels today. Our club should be taking action as we speak to address these foundless accusations being directed at us as a support, and those members of our armed forces who were present at Ibrox on Saturday. Our club simply cannot allow these types of attacks on our support to go unchallenged.

To do so would be an insult to each and every one of us!

We are under sustained attack on an almost daily basis. There are enemies who call themselves fans of the scum but that is only a camouflage for their reason for existence. Their every waking moment is consumed by their obsession about our club, our fans and any display of Loyalism.

Thankfully we have people like the vb who monitor and highlight these scum for what they are.

Great piece by the vb again, i only wish the names of these attackers on our club were even more highlighted as they seem to attack on a constant basis. The more people know who these scumbags are and what they are up to people see them for what they are.

I hope the VB sent this to the English papers letting them know what goes on in Scotland....name and shame.

It would be a good exercise to try and highlight these issues south of the border. Some papers however. eg Guardian, are a closed shop as they openly support the republican rabble

Excellent points and in particular our board should do so much more in speaking about the attacks on our club and our supporters. Good investigative team at VB, maybe should step up a notch in gaining greater access to the media both up here and down south.

not just the English media but the government need this emailed to them too, every sector in Britain to remind them what is openly going on in front of their noses.

Excellent point and reading the high standard of articles the vb produce I am sure they are more than capable of representing us. (tu)
