CanadianBacon 2,088
People running or cycling should consign their activities to fieldsMarathons should be conducted miles away from populated areas. They should start the run at the beginning of the West Highland Way and keep running until they reach Fort 'Billy' then, jump onto bicycles and head back south again. Two for the price of one and not a road block in sight. mearns loyal 2,848
Do you think any other city in the world would have a major televised event running along a road that runs parallel with an iconic world famous stadium rather than run past the Stadium itself ? Typical Glasgow!

Dutchy 1,200
Listen to yourself, lazy gits, probably some of the runners are Nurses and Doctors that will be looking after you cause you wont walk the length of yourselfI think the OP is objecting to the organisation with these events, it is very disruptive when they take over the roads and public transport. Then again, I had to walk over 3 miles in the last Edinburgh Marathon as the buses were stopped, but walking and running are only going to be of any good to anyone if they do it every day, not every year. Inigo 33,377
Fuckin miserable gets. Once a year, plenty of charity work, makes Glasgow look good from aerial shots and gives free positive adverts for the city, good wee city spirit amongst all the spectators. I live near Bellahouston Park which suffers more disruption than most areas . Willing to put up with it though, we know well in advance. Some Scottish athletes doing well too I see! Typical Glasgow! This is the one gripe I have. Who decided the feckin route? It would be like going to the area of the SECC and missing the Hydro and Armadillo or going tot he area of the transport museum and missing the museum. It would only have needed a wee adjustment.Mind you, popcorn teeth would probably have spat on it. He has form for that kind of thing.
