centenarystand 2,229
That Juventus team had 9 of the Italian World cup squad in their ranks, even the main stand were singing and stamping their feet that night.
gmcf 35,487
Good question T with a lot to pick from. I'm not too far from yours to be honest. 1- Moscow Dynamo 1972. For obvious reasons. 2- Bayern Munich 1972. Not only did Bayern go onto to win 3 in a row but round about the time of this semi they would provide W Germany with the backbone of the team that would thrash England at Wembley . ( pretty sure it was a European Qualifier )3- Leeds Utd 1992. Scotland v England for a place in the first Champions League with Leeds unbeaten at home for over a year. English press had Leeds big favourites but Rangers were simply different class that night which led to the famous commentary ( Atkinson ? ) ' ' 'Rangers are just toying with them now. ' 4- Juventus or Eindhoven 1978. Hard to distinguish to be honest. The Italians had half their World Cup team , but Eindhoven was one of Rangers best away performances against a team at its height in ' total football ' . Pretty sure it was also Eindhovens first defeat at home in Europe. 5- Bayern Munich 1999. Strange one as we got beat, but after striking the woodwork three times and playing them off the park in Munich only to get robbed by a dive is still hard to take all these years later. We were at the height of Advocaats style of football , so many quality players and a young Barry Ferguson pulling the strings , it would have been interesting to see how far we would have got. TravelingWilBEARy 4,319
I think the result we got in Marseille doesn't get the recognition it deserves because we needed to win to progress to the final. Drawing with that team in one of the most intimidating atmospheres in Europe was a tremendous result.

gmcf 35,487
Number 3 may get in to my top five ahead of PSV, good shout. To be fair there's a lot to choose from. I'd love to know more about our game v Inter Milan in 1965. A bit young then , but from what I've heard it was our probably our biggest 'miss' for EC. We were 3-1 down to the holders at the Quarter Final stage in the 1st Leg. In the 2nd leg we Went 1-0 up in first few minutes but couldn't score a second for rest of game. Milan went on to win the cup. To think we had 85 minutes to win a game !

What may have been great performances get neglected because of the age profile and of course TV being what it is now.I'd love to have seen the performance in Vienna that made them break Baxter's leg.
