CoatbridgeBear 7,113
After all we ALWAYS help the club, last year our biggest test ever, and us, The People, saved us. We're always behind the club, tickets, merchandise, IPO etc.Should the club come out & back/defend these fans being singled out by the stormtroopers? A think they should, they owe us it imo. Bad Robot 21,513
It depends on the circumstance but I would say no if fans are up in court for alleged offensive behaviour.
trublusince1982 768
Yes enough is enough it's time the club took care of our own and backed the fans. They should help with lawyers as they are quick enough to utilise them to defend the boards position.
ianb1547 3,776
At risk of needing the tinfoil hat...and I've read your other thread (so can guess why you are asking this particular question)surely the answer has to beIf a fan commits an offence (and I'm not saying that you have) how can (a) that be victimization, and (b) condoned by the Club?I totally agree some of the laws relating to footy are crazy...but until they get changed we are stuck with them.If you don't want 3 points for speeding........don't speed. Muirheadbear 1,483
Do I like songs about certain player's dad hating the Queen - no!Do I like songs wishing death (novo) threats on players - no!Do I like songs glorifying terrorists - no!Do I like songs decrying our armed forces - no!Do I like songs/chants victimising a player for the colour of their skin - no!Do I like songs wanting to f...k certain religious leaders (despite the club, and leading figures like a Walter Smith and Ally MCCoist pleading not to) - no!Do I "follow follow with pride" - yes!Your on your own son! scarkev 3,540
Doesn't work that way mate....I agree its a joke the way things are that singing a song is deemed a serious crime and I feel sorry for those singled out but the reality is these are the rules and the club can't and shouldn't get involved....that's like saying if you commit a murder the club should help you out because of everything you have done for them!We definitely need to address the perception and persecution of our fans but bringing the club into this is unfair in this instance.... tannerall 25,935
No way should our club back them. The majority of the fans go to the game, behave impeccably during the game and cause no trouble afterward. Our fans behaviour last season, especially with what was going on in the background, was unbelievably good proving even during bad times and under provocation from the various authorities we are still the best fans in the world. There are still a small core of neds who wish to spoil this. They know what they are doing. If they get lifted or ejected it is of no concern to the club or myself. Only bad thing is the embarrassment caused to club. The majority of fans know how to stay out of trouble, not provoke it.
PRW. 5,631
Definitely. The bill that fans are being charged under now is a fucking joke and should be scrapped.Nearly every case under it is laughed out of court by the judges but not after 5+ months of hell, humiliation, not being able to watch your team and having your job at risk. The fans need to step up aswell. As I said before in the other thread, the tarriers and to a smaller extent Motherwell have groups designated to combat the law and help fans who become victims of it. Our fans groups should be organising something similar.
PRW. 5,631
And the club can start by getting rid of that ridiculous procedure they have of banning any fan charged whilst following Rangers until the final verdict in court.Guilty until proven innocent is the wrong approach. minstral 5,375
Yes but Murray set the trend not to defend our fans, he would rather they were jailed.

thehost 11,061
RFC still needs a huge brush to get rid of the few remaining "rangers men".They should then go about actually hiring proper Rangers Men. folk like D'art or, dare I say it, The Gub.I'd have EA taking over from "tweet happy" Dickson.Guy's who actually give a shit about the club. tannerall 25,935
What I cant believe is not only are some of our fans doing it, but they are stupid enough to rise to the challenge, knowing the consequences.Years ago going to games, there were always the "nutters" who got involved in fights or wound up the police. One or two of these "nutters" were great mates of mine, but they knew the score that they would probably have to face consequences and usually accepted it when they got lifted. Those guys did not play the "victim" card, or need the club to back them. And usually they'd do it again, but still accept the consequences. Never heard the ones who got lifted or got a wee doing then call themselves victims, or expect the club to defend them.
legalbeagle 3,734
what law?Depends what the victimisation is regarding, I am presuming some of this is referring to anti-sectarian legislation.
