Bothwellbear 1,392
Rangers ace Bilel Mohsni: We can match Arsenal's Invincibles by finishing this season's campaign unbeaten 5 Dec 2013 08:17 THE Ibrox defender insists winning the league is the most important thing but reckons his team are strong enough to pull off a 100 per cent league run to the finishing line. Rangers defender Bilel Mohsni celebratesAlan Harvey/SNS GroupBILEL MOHSNI says Rangers can match Arsenal’s legendary team of Invincibles by going through the whole league season unbeaten. The Gers defender grew up admiring fellow Frenchmen Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera and Robert Pires as they starred in the Gunners side of 2004 that won the English title without tasting defeat. Now he reckons Rangers can pull off the same feat in this season’s League One campaign. The Ibrox men have already racked up a new post-war record of 19 wins in a row and are homing in on the all-itme record of 22 victories on the spin. While boss Ally McCoist keeps playing down talk of a season of total supremacy, Mohsni insists it’s driving on the Ibrox dressing room before every game.Mohsni said: “I think we can do it. It’s going to be tough for sure and no game will be easy – but I think we can do it. We have proved we are a strong team in defence, up front and in midfield so we can do it and if we do, it will be a very good achievement.“I remember the Arsenal team a few years ago that went the whole season without losing.“They were called The Invincibles and it would be fantastic if we could do the same.“There were a few French players in that team, there are only two at Rangers but maybe we can do it. If you are thought of as an invincible team then everyone will want to beat you the next year.“Everyone wants to win the league very quickly. But after we do that then this is going to be the motivation – to keep unbeaten and keep winning. That would be something special.“Of course it will be difficult and if we win the league early maybe the manager will look at changing the team and playing the youth players to give them experience. We’ll see but the most important thing is to win the league.”If he could help pull off a 100 per cent league run to the finishing line, Mohsni knows that some people will try to belittle the effort because Rangers are playing in the second-bottom tier. After all, with the resources and wage bill at their disposal they are expected to beat these part-time teams. But Mohsni reckons you only need to look at last weekend’s Scottish Cup ties for proof that the lower division teams have what it takes to live with the top flight sides. As Motherwell discovered to their cost in that shock 1-0 defeat by lowly Albion Rovers. While St Mirren are heading for a replay with Queen of the South, who have already knocked them out of the League Cup this season. Unbeaten Arsenal celebrate title win in 2004 PA Mohsni added: “The level was good when we saw the results in the Scottish Cup. For us, it’s like the Scottish Cup every weekend when we play against these teams.“It’s not easy. Every game is very hard because every team is waiting to play us. They always start the matches very quickly and we have to be very strong.“Sometimes it maybe looks easy when you see the score but you have to work and concentrate as if you’re playing a strong team.”Mohsni has quickly become a fans favourite since his summer arrival on a free from Southend.Already drawing comparisons with Lorenzo Amoruso and Madjid Bougherra for his eagerness to dribble his way out of defence in search of goals, the 26-year-old admits he is relishing his role.In fact, just to have one role to relish is the biggest relief for the Parisien after being asked to play in every area of the pitch at his previous clubs.Southend alone utilised him as a defender, a centre-forward and a winger on the left and the right. But with quality strikers Jon Daly and Nicky Clark having helped Rangers to a staggering 56 goals already this term, Mohsni know he won’t be called on to fill any gaps up front. He added: “I used to say I’d play anywhere for the team but when you do that you almost forget your best position so I prefer to settle down at the back.“It’s difficult when you play in different areas of the pitch. Even in training you can’t find confidence in one position. You return to centre-back and it’s not easy.“When you play up front, it’s about you and your ability. When you play at the back, you need a relationship with the others in the back four.“The thing about Rangers is that we have so many quality strikers. At the moment Jon Daly and Nicky Clark are showing we don’t need anyone else up there. They have been very good, scoring goals for fun so I definitely think my place is at the back in this team.“It was funny because as a kid I’d sometimes become goalkeeper. I’d enjoy it, diving around having some fun.“When I was 13 our keeper got an injury and our coach asked me to take his place because we didn’t have anyone else.“I did well and was asked if I could stay in the position for the rest of the season. I said ‘why not?’ and it was a good year.“If Cammy Bell gets injured maybe I could play. The difference is we have many other keepers who could take over.”

there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
He needs to concentrate on the basics and cut out the flashy stuff in his own half and we'll be in with a better chance.
devref 201
would love to see it but I think ally once the league is won ally will feed some youngsters into the team for the experience. cant really blame him for that as long as he uses them in the proper positions. and that's not meant as a dig at ally for the get ally out brigade just that if he starts to throw to many in he will be playing them out of position and not really get the best from them. Ally should be throwing on the youngsters now when we are 2 nil up at 50 minutes to get them experience.
Blue corn flakes 1,282
Don't really see the hype about going unbeaten in a part time lg. Surely when the lg is wrapped up. Ally will start to play younger ones and give ones a rest.
theiconicman 2,975
Gotta love the guy, has a real personality that you can see rubs off on the others in the team. Keeps you on your toes right enough with some of his antics but we'll see how much of that he'll do when we start to climb the leagues.

OLE SUPER WILBERT 2,475
We cant if he continues to play the way he does, it'll cost us eventually.
1690tamRFC 5,001
Agreed mate, I rate big billy and he started the season solid as fuck, last couple of games he's looked to me as if he just thinks he can stroll it as he's much better than everyone he's playing against. Whilst that may be the case, as you say it probably will cost us if it continues.
allgers 735
There were one or two moments against Falkirk and Forfar when he made the wrong choice, I get the feeling if he caused us to concede a goal he would just stroll forward and score to make up for it. King Jela 20,360
I like his 'can do' spirit but there's a big difference between the 2 situations.Plus, as mentioned, we'll get caught eventually due to his over-confidence at times. The Godfather 71,717
He reminds me of a poor version of Boogie. He needs to cut out the silly stuff because decent teams will make him look daft.

WadeWilson 4,670
So Billy can play as a striker or a winger on either flank... That explains a lot! The big man is class. Fans favourite for sure.

Inigo 32,526
Surprising amount of negativity about the big man. I think he's great. Taking risks against this opposition adds a bit of excitement to games. We'll see if he's sensible enough not to do it against teams where it matters in more important matches. The guys enthusiasm is brilliant. ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
I wish he would just get on with playing for Rangers instead of talking pish in the paper. Thats a few times he's done this since coming here. Also this guy is not going to get away with some of the stuff he does on the pitch when we go higher up the leagues. He needs to be told that. He's getting away with it just now though because we are pumping these teams most weeks. He needs to stop moaning at the refs every time he makes a foul aswell. RFC Eagle 4,888
DisagreeTony Adams was no Bilel MoshniAnd wasn't part of the 'not so Invincibles who lost to Chelsea, Middlesborough and Man United' (who they didn't beat all season). Preston North End 1888-89 are the true Invincibles undefeated in League and FA Cup and a strong Scottish contingent.
