And he has never proved he can win anything without buying it. If he was a true great, he would go to someone like Aston Villa and turn them around without buying the success. In what way have chelsea actually won anything on merit? At least Arsenal have produced players unlike the unspecial one.

fuck up.

Did he spend millions when he won the CL with Porto?

His achievements with Porto were extraordinary. Sadly, he will never get near to those levels again as he has become a chequebook manager.

Anyone arguing that he is not a defensive-minded coach is merely fooling themselves and ignoring his entire career.

When you move to a higher level of course you'll get more money to spend.

Is he meant to have just stayed at Porto or a similar club for the rest of his days to prove he's not a 'chequebook manager'?

He built a European winning side at Porto, one which won the Uefa cup, domestic league then then CL.

He made Chelsea into a European powerhouse who domestically were too disciplined and powerful for the other teams.

To say he doesn't play attacking football is sheer stupidity, I suppose Robben, Duff, Lampard, Cole ect were defensive at Chelsea? Don't talk utter rubbish.

This season he has played attacking football for most of the season bar United and Arsenal where his tactics proved spot on.

The comments are laughable.

"Er aye but he's bought everything he's achieved..."

What about Porto?

"Aye well that was a one off, he's a chequebook manager so he is"

Hmm well thought out

It is obviously his choice to do as he wishes and I do not think that he will have sleepless nights over what anyone else thinks about him. My point still stands.

Ahahahahahaha. Why would he go to Villa?

Arsenal have produced players and won fuck all. (tu) Barca, Madrid, Chelsea, Utd, City, Juve, PSG, Bayern every team who's successful spends money, if you dont spend money these days you wont win anything, simple as that. Barca may be a slight exception to that since they've brought through so many talented players, saying that even they've apent big money.

Yip.

People act like Wenger hasn't spent money, which is a sheer myth.

It's just he has spent poorly on bigger players like Gervinho, Arshavin, Chamak ect.

He is a fantastic tactician whose teams are primarily set up to not lose. That is not the same as saying that none of his players have ever attacked the opposition.

Has he been a champion of the youth system at any of his teams since Porto? Has he built a dynasty at any of them? No, he arrives, spends big, achieves varying levels of success and then either leaves or gets dismissed. It certainly seems to work for him.

Your lack of objectivity where Chelsea are concerned, coupled with your dichotomous views regarding the game isn't conducive to reasoned argument.

Exactly. All managers who are successful at the highest level spend money to do it.

He goes to the biggest clubs in Europe because he's the best manager in Europe, of course he is going to spend money as every single manager at a big club does so.

He has absolutely nothing to prove as he has developed a team like Porto and won the biggest trophy in Europe with them. He won Chelsea's first title in 50 years and at Inter and Madrid done great things too.

People are so bitter that they cannot structure a reasonable argument which this thread is proof of.

You must have posted a million times to defend the 'special one' and Chelsea....yet to see a valid point from you tbh.

In context though he took over a Porto team who were already well run, the countries top club and he was given a far higher budget than any other club, portos success before and after him proves it was all in place for him. Kind of like PLG at Lyon

Spot on, that's why Porto kept winning the Champions League every year.

It's a cup competition and no barometer of how good a team was that season, it's like Kilmarnock winning the league cup and saying they are the best club in Scotland .

The best teams in the Europe don't play in the scottish cup tho.
