Should The Board Just Keep Spending ?

Guardian

Its a bit like in 2010 when the tory/lib dem goverment came in and started cutting, everybody supported cuts until something they used or needed got cut then all hell broke loose. Instead of a mature debate about how to cut costs we have people screaming cut their budget but not mine. Allys doing the same and its unacceptable.

How does ally say they shouldnt curb spending? The financial troubles are McCoists fault now?

I think it more the point if ally doesn't want to get rid of no one and keep filling the squad up, the old board backed ally to the hilt now ally doesn't want to back the board in what is competent to the secured future of the club

They should take a hard line in all types of spending, not just Ally's.

If we aren't going to get back more than we put in then it isnt justifiable, same as with this new finance consultant we brought in. I would also love a cap on players wages above 30, the length of contract offered, and only bosmans.

The proposed players wage cuts is the only proposal that has been leaked, there will be a lot more to come including admin, cleaning, maintenance, groundstaff, catering (not pie stall catering) and yes the boards wages/bonuses etc will all be possible candidates for cuts, it can only be for the benefit of the club so not sure why anyone would complain unless you are in one of the stated positions.

Ally is against player wage cuts.

Ally is against selling players.

Ally is playing the victim against the board to rally fans behind him.

He clearly wants the team costs to remain the same and has publicly declared he will have nothing to do with cost cutting.

That is a prelude to cuts being enforced by the big bad board and greeting from Ally in the papers.

If he's not man enough to manage the team, and all that entails, then he should walk away and make room for someone who can.

NOBODY thinks the spending on the team is at an acceptable level.

The board will now get pelters for doing what everyone demanded they do before the AGM.

Go back and read the posts. Especially those from folk who now disagree.

Graham Wallace and the board are at this moment responsible for the well being of the club. McCoist as an employee is entitled to his views but at the end of the day must 'toe the corporate line' or find a new job for himself.

Wallace said after the AGM that we must cut costs and seek new investment. No way will we see any new investment whilst costs are spiraling out of control, so obviously cutting spending is our #1 priority. Expect cuts across the board and a reduction in the size of our squad through the sale of players and attrition.

McCoist liked Mather because he agreed to every signing he wanted. Now we have to cut costs because of that.

Does McCoist not see this. He shouldn't be our fucking manager end of.

All this talk of admin and McCoist is still trying to keep his highly paid signings and if he could add more.

The fans can see we don't need anyone else, the fans can see who needs to go why can't he?

We should have never got into this position, it was mind boggling why we are paying certain guys the money we are now. We had the chance to build slowly, we should have used more of the youth players in the team - sure some of them are not going to set the world of football on fire but for the leagues we were playing in they could have done a job. It would of course would lose a bit of certainty about promotion aspects but still we would keep the costs low and move up the leagues.

Investment should have went into scouting and training (be it better coaches etc).

All I see right now is quick fixes and as the resent news suggests even that was potentially done the wrong way as well. The cuts are needed I hope the board makes the decisions that need to be made to steady the ship, put us on a firm financial footing to then progress.

Neither. How about taking time to review the Business then introduce cost savings as required.

Are these continued knee-jerk threads helping to calm down an already anxious support?

I thought not. If it was Speirs et al stirring it we would all be shouting about it.

How about giving it a rest.

Ally's not responsible for managing the bank account but turn the clock back to last summer, Ally wanted a bigger squad, if the board had refused him a lot of Bears would be blaming the board for not giving Ally what he needed (or thought he needed), blame lies on all sides and that includes the some of the support for demanding too much....IMO of course.

While the club has to work within its means - the manager should ALWAYS be trying to get the best squad he can and in the modern world that is finance - that is not a failure of McCoist - it's a strength - and it's his job to fight the footballing corner, why you want to see this as a negative trait in Aly I don't understand that!

Ally is Also on record that he will get on with the Job no master he cuts or budgets or do you conveniently forget that in your list of what he says?

Personally i'm amazed that Ally doesn't offer to personally pay off all the players out of his own cash, pull on a number 9 jersey and play for the club for free.

Why the hell shouldn't he fight for his staff and his budget? Have any of you moaners had to deal with staff in a time of company cost cutting? You do your best for them, and you fight for your team.
