here we go............................

KEITH believes that the financial situation at Ibrox will be crystal clear on February 27, when staff and player wages are due to be paid and investor Dave King says the club will have run out of money. 17 Feb 2014 07:57

EVERYONE loves a pay day. And few more so than some of the characters who have heaved bulging pockets out of the Ibrox front doors in recent times.

But in less than a fortnight, on February 27 to be exact, Rangers will face a very different kind of pay day. And this one may well define the shape of things to come in the sort to medium term, both for this club and its current custodians.

As is routinely the case the last Thursday of every month is the day wages are deposited into the accounts of this club’s employees.

But that’s where the normality ends and the latest twist in this never-ending Rangers saga might finally begin to take shape.

Quite simply this club is either about to run completely out of cash before it has time to rake in new season-ticket money. Or it is not.

In other words the mysterious Rangers identity crisis is about to reach an end.

Either this is the club which is so skint it has no choice but to ask its players to accept wage cuts.

Or it is the club which is so flush it can afford to offer the players lunch and afternoon naps at Carnoustie ahead of a league game at Forfar.

One thing is for sure, it cannot continue to be both for much longer.

Dave King, the perennial would-be saviour, has done his sums and believes Rangers are about to collapse financially for the second time in little more than two years.

In fact, even as recently as Friday, on the single most ignominious anniversary in the 142-year narrative of Rangers Football Club, King was attempting to engage with the board but his efforts to provide a solution to the problems were rebuffed.

In other words this is becoming a stand-off which will ultimately be determined by the true state of the club’s bank balance.

If King is correct, Rangers will be in very serious trouble indeed, if not after settling this month’s wages, then almost certainly before the next lot are due at the end of March.

If he is wrong, the board will have enough breathing room at least to get to the end of Graham Wallace’s 120-day review. So far the CEO has had his head stuck under the bonnet for half that time which may explain why he has disappeared from view.

Wallace’s Invisible Man act cannot continue indefinitely. With so much conjecture and speculation about the state of his business he must pipe up soon and find a voice if he is to provide this club with the leadership it requires.

If he would rather keep a low profile he’s in the wrong job.

But again Wallace’s actions are likely to be determined by the state of the club’s accounts. If they are as bad as King has calculated then Wallace will not be able to keep shtum for much longer.

One way or the other a clearer picture of its financial health is about to emerge after many weeks and months of confusion and clandestine operations behind the scenes.

According to back of the fag packet accountancy a sum of around £500k will be needed just to pay the first-team wage bill.

But that’s far from all because, remember, this is a football club like no other. This is a football club which, going by its most recent audited numbers, lavishes even?more money on its executives and non-football staff than it ploughs into the dressing room.

So let’s be conservative, assume some good housekeeping has been carried out in the interim period, and settle for £1million. Either those in charge of Rangers can afford to stump it up without King’s assistance or they can’t.

If they can’t what other options are open to them? The answer is not many.

If there is enough left in the vault to keep the lights on until the season-ticket money arrives, Rangers may be able to stumble forward into the summer, hoping supporters who have refinanced this club every year since Craig Whyte’s takeover are prepared to bail it out for a fourth time in huge numbers.

Which is in itself far from certain.

If, however, the money really is all but gone in the next few weeks then Wallace will have to find some from elsewhere. And if not from King, who else is there?

It’s understood that to date, and despite his very best efforts, Wallace has failed to secure any external financing. Which should come as no great surprise. Rangers, having burned through £22m of IPO investments in little more than a year, are a seriously bad risk.

But if Wallace can’t raise money in London then there may be one last alternative. It begins with the letter A and ends in II.

On those rare occasions when Wallace has raised his head he has stated categorically that a second administration will not happen on his watch. If he is true to his word, Rangers fans need not worry.

Trouble is they’ve heard it all before.

And look how that turned out.

Reading the article, it mentions the pay at the end of march if not februarys as being at risk. This confirms the shit stirring but leave an out if wrong approach. Then this time next month this shit will be regurgitated to say we'll be fucked by the end of march or at worst april. And so it goes on.

GW had time to assess the cashflow and consider player sales in the transfer window.

We didnt sell, and that tells me enough cash is there or coming in, or that there is investment or overdraft facility in place to get us through to renewal time.

Either that or GW has got his sums incredibly wrong, which I doubt given his level of experience.

Scaremongouring rhebel shite. Move on

That's the bit I was about to highlight too.

That's the part of the article that's seems to have been glossed over by many & convinces me KJ is shitstirring on behalf of Dave King.

I'm not sure KJ understands the meaning of the word DEFINITIVELY when offers up 1 date for is all to know, then confirms if not then then possibly the same time the following month.

That part makes his lurid headline and, in fact, the rest of his story absolute bullshit & not worth reading.

Just an excuse to either say "I told you so" or to say "ahh .... but wait till next month"

Strange 'piece'

You can't call it journalism as there is no actual story, assertion or facts.

You can't call it an opinion as he doesn't seem to offer one.

Just a random assortment of words.

What irritated me two years ago were people like Mark Daly and through to John Brown who offered nothing but insinuation without any backup and then accuse us of not listening to their warnings when they are 'proved right', Jackson is in the same boat here, say nothing but make sure that you can tell the world you warned us if something was to go wrong.

Pathetic - I haven't got my head in the sand, I just don't know what he thinks I am supposed to see.

Journalists and editors know that to ensure circulation and readership goes up, all you do is have an exclusive on Rangers admin 2. They play on this whenever possible as it is a winner for them.

Long long before anything like administration becomes a possibility our board have a number of avenues to explore, they could borrow money from financial institutions or even approach the likes of Dave King. The fact that DK claims to have been rebuffed last week, tells me we are quite a bit away from this type of event.

It may well suit DK for this type of story to come out given that he wants to join the party, however for his own credibility amongst fans he would be better thought of if he said nothing.

Would not believe anything printed in this rag but,

The sooner Wallace lets us know where we are going to raise the finance we need the better.

Lets not bury our heads in the sand, we need investment soon.

The one thing I could have bet the mortgage on was that when he said he was going to take 120days to assess everything from top to bottom, people would demand he gave the results of the 120 days before 120 days.

Do you really think Dave King is simply offering to write a cheque for millions and hand it over? Any investment will involve conditions such as him getting a level of control or even the appointment of certain people he wants on the board, so I highly doubt it's a simple situation.

At the end of the day, money talks. If Dave King has half as much as he is reported to have, he had the opportunity to buy us on several occasions for a song, so as he didn't, I do question his love of the club and as for the story a subvert at work from one side or the other and we will survive one way or another, to the disdain of the many who wish to see us dead.

I was thinking about this too gogzy.

Why would the easdales, etc who have invested a lot of money just to write it off.

I dont think we'll go into admin personally. However if we did it wouldnt mean yheir money was writyen off. as there is no real debt it would be a measure to restructure the business/terminate some contracts and so on before exiting admin.

still dont think it will happen.

He's well and truely stuck his neck on the line this time

When nothing happens he should be phased out and hopefully no one buys the Record again as it will have lost all credibility

"When nothing happens he should be phased out and hopefully no one buys the Record again as it will have lost all credibility!"

I'm aghast 1st_Jan_1994 - the Record lost all credibility a long time ago and Rangers supporters should have stopped buying this gutter rag more than a decade ago.

This is no new line of attack by the Rebel or one of its hacks - this has been an anti-Rangers tome for long and weary.

Fuck them. Don't wait. Cease buying it NOW!!

Once i get to work i will buy the paper. It will be an opinion piece no doubt mixed in with soundbites from king from past interviews.

the truth of the matter is we will be running short now, st money is starting to go and even sponsorship money etc. Im pretty sure that this is when sdm would utilise ticketus when we were in the spl. These leagues generate fuck all income so i wouldn't be surprised if we were running short.

how bad it is or how good it is none of us can possibly know. The holding on to Wallace and law have steadied my nerves a bit.

however we all know we are in dire need of a cash injection. Admin would be very very sore on us. IF it happened and we weren't out of it by the new seasons start we would be stuck in the championship with a 25 point deficit. Our business plan (if they had one previously) meant qe needed promotion after promotion.

as this is in the msm today a stern statement from the club could ease everyone's fears, will we get one? I doubt it

we shouldn't need another club statement. Wallace has stated 2-3 times now that administration will not happen.

It could be and is messing with the share price, someone ? some group ? appears to be trying to force a run on the price, no other explanation for the constant attempts to destabalise the club.

Interesting theory - that might explain what I was told (in whispers) by a guy I know outside Ibrox last weekend.

Him: "Wee man....my source at the Daily Record tells me that Dave King and David Murray are joining forces and will be making an appearance soon to gain control of the club!"

Me: "Get yersel' tae fuck!"

When I'd stopped laughing I reminded my 'whispering' friend that Murray fucked the South African based gent for plenty the last time they did business.

He had no answer....nor does this little toerag who scribbled this shite today.

I repeat - FUCK the Daily Record.
