Retire the Number 2 jersey?

Recommended Posts

I think it is a true sign of respect to somebody who brought so much to our club. It's done by many other sports teams but they do it too often. I would like to see the number retired - nobody else deserves to wear that number anymore.

Where do you draw the line? At argument can be made to retire everything from 1-11

No, not ever. Give kids something to aspire to. When they come in the door to begin life at Rangers give them something to aim for. Make them want to be the next Sandy Jardine, Coop, Ally, Greig. When I was a kid it was No.4 Jaws or Big DJ. It's what drives people to realise their dreams and become great.

I think the sentiment is great but I don't agree with retiring numbers, Jardine inspired a generation, no doubt there was thousands of kids wanting to be number 2 just like their idol.

I believe the best way to honour a player is by having present and future players aspire to be as great as the main man himself, it might never happen but its something to aspire too.
