DonaldTSterling 35
Because Rangers aren't paying for it.Expenses will be covered by organizers and sponsors. Rangers will most likely be paid a fee to participate in the trip.your post is correct mate, we aren't paying for this trip. I've heard some rubbish spouted on this in a variety of places. Personally, this tour is a great move

IainB 599
This is an extended training camp trip similar to our trips to Germany in the past. And sorry to upset the bears from the Mid part of the North American continent re Ottawa, but hearing something about a game in Edmonton 2 days after the Victoria game, It seems they are playing games close to places where we have NARSA clubs but not right in these places and this maybe deliberate to give the players some breathing space. (Ventura is close to LA, Sacramento close to San Francisco, Victoria to Vancouver and if Edmonton comes to fruition it is close to Calgary). Pre-season is about getting the players together, bonding and developing, not playing glamour friendlies. And if we are going to do that then play these games at Ibrox BUT the club would have to pay an appearance fee to these clubs, with no guarantee we would fill Ibrox to cover the costs, and sorry but these clubs are not going to be paying Rangers to come to their grounds with us as the third tier Scottish Champions. Rangers Rob 29
And sorry to upset the bears from the Mid part of the North American continent re Ottawa, but hearing something about a game in Edmonton 2 days after the Victoria gameJust off the phone with Ottawa Fury FC, said I had heard they were playing Glasgow Rangers in July and was calling about ticket availability, guy said "that match hasn't been announced yet" but he knows that lots of people have heard this, he said to keep an eye on the website as an announcement about an international friendly would be coming "sooner rather than later" - this fits with a post over on Follow Follow in which a member said they had been told by the Fury that an announcement regarding an international friendly would be coming 'probably Thursday'. FWIW, Ottawa Fury move from a stadium on a college campus to the newly renovated TD Place on July 20, so booking a big match in the first week makes sense. It seems they are playing games close to places where we have NARSA clubs but not right in these places and this maybe deliberate to give the players some breathing space. (Ventura is close to LA, Sacramento close to San Francisco, Victoria to Vancouver and if Edmonton comes to fruition it is close to Calgary). That they are near major metropolitan areas (which you point out above) may have had more to do with it - to be blunt, I don't expect many Major League Soccer teams would be interested given the level we currently play at which is why they went for USL Pro, PDL, and a likely NASL opponent.
