Rangers manager Ally McCoist is planning for assault on the Championship title

Striker Kenny Miller is close to penning a deal that will see him join the Gers for a third time in his career while midfielder Kyle Hutton is also poised to finalise his new contract with the club.

The 23-year-old endured an injury hit campaign as McCoist's side clinched the League One crown last time out but was offered fresh terms at the end of the season as the likes of Chris Hegarty, Ross Perry and Andy Little were let go.

Hutton now looks set to extend his Ibrox stay by agreeing a one-year contract as he bids to kick-start his career and McCoist continues to build his squad for a shot at Championship title glory.

I read that Hutton was being looked at by others, as his contract was about to expire, he would have walked for free.

It's possible that this might be a move to try and gain some sort of transfer fee, so not such a bad move really, and if it pays off we get recompensed instead of heehaw.

The headline to this topic is bit misleading FFs all ally has done is resign a pensioner and a dummy who was already at the club so in reality only one new signing has been made. The title would be better used if McCoist had completed deals for at least 3/4 players but hasn't

Would rather we used the younger guys as squad players throughout the season but Hutton isn't the worst player, adequate replacement for Black if he recieves an injury or suspension. They should never be allowed to play together though.

Miller wouldn't be that bad of a signing if we also had other young players lined up. The infuriating part is that it'll put Gallagher down the pecking order and he'll most likely be partnering a 31 year old in Jon Daly. One or the other would be fine but the balance between youth and experience has swayed too much towards the latter under Ally especially in the circumstances ATM.
