graeme_4 37,616
I think the right choice of new manager would.Needs to be an interview process with set criteria:Track recordFootballing style Unaffiliated with the club currently (believe we need to rebuild the football side from scratch)

ianb1547 3,776
The assumption that a new manager makes a difference (in a good way) is flawed.
Copland bear 7,966
Agree about Man Utd, van Gaal has had beds installed in the training ground for naps between (Nando's) i mean training sessions, And he has also put hd cameras in so he can record training sessions.Might be a tall order with Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Liverpool, but he is laying the foundations, give him a couple of seasons and Man Utd will take some stopping. Rickshaw77 287
Difference between Man utd and Rangers is the Mancs have high quality players who were playing badly. Rangers have a bunch of mid-table SPL Bosmans who would not even been near Rangers 2nd string team a few years back.Doubt even the best manager in the world is going to make Ricky Foster a better player. Muirheadbear 1,483
All good points but alas you could only expect such decisions to sack him from a board who are in it for the long run.So it's all hypothetical I'm afraid. He will make an excellent buffer for certain investors. A fall guy if you will.

We had brilliant players in comparison with the league we were in. Players have got worse not better under McCoist, they have their share of the blame but its mostly down to bad management and bad tactics. Wearethepeople72 1,859
Man United had a new manager last season aswell and look what happened. A new manager doesn't always mean a team will change for the better.

Instead we went down the route of signing fairly average players on bigger wages than they're worth

saintbob1969 1,560
Motivation and competitive challenge are key in any league. Easy enough for Van Gaal to come into a mini US competition, lets see what he does if Man U drop points against the lesser sides in the middle of the UK winter.Lets take this silly idea to the height of silliness shall we, go back two years, sack McCoist and hire... oh, lets say, McInnes, or Mourinho, or how about some unknown from Norway, now how does this imaginary manager get a team of pros to win one league after the other in godforsaken outposts of all weather lower league misery with constant attacks and expectations and financial insecurity?
