Clyde Valley 234
Nothing funny about it. We built one of the most modern, safest stadiums in the world.Unfortunately the manager at the time didn't have the team performing to the same standard as the stadium but a few years later it arrived. Clyde Valley 234
Lest we forget, none of our current stars would have featured in teams from that era. So when I see Big Craig Paterson doing a stint on TV praising the Rangers and he is watching a 10 grand a week Lee McCulloch in his old position I wonder whats going through his mind. Happy fucking days. The East Enclosure was the beating heart of the stadium when I grew up in the late 80s. I'd love to get it back the way it used to be. Stoorie 1,090
I sat and watched it getting built, weekend by weekend. That drawing was considered "space age" then.It turned out to be 100% better!

ianb1547 3,776
Rangers Pools were a godsend (and btw....your chocolate buttons didn't cost 35p (7/-) back then.)

eejay the dj 31,964
Inigo my man .note proper spelling ...:-)))The Old enclosure was something special . Remember going to an OF game in 1980 with Big Beastie scoring 2 in a 3-0 win .It was truly bedlam as a young boy in amongst men and nutters .No game nowadays would come close . pcbear 10,932
I had that 40 quid season ticket, it was called the Rover and you could sit in any seat in any stand apart from the Main Stand.
BlearyEyedBear 4,148
Back when most folk could afford to go to the games.
Clyde Valley 234
And how much were our superstars being paid per week compared to what our mentor,Big Lee is coining in? What was the manager earning compared toSuper? So basically if you want to pay 50 quid a year then pay the players the going rate to match that. Creampuff 22,630
I think that Reserve/Development/U20 home games should still be included in the Season Ticket. Get bums on seats in those games when Rangers are away.

eejay the dj 31,964
Goat .Your always accused of starting pishy threads .This one triggered a few good memories I had forgotten about .It's hard to believe how advanced our stadium was, as far back as the early eightees .No state aid back then of course . sergio 1,199
I had a season book for the 84-85 season, It cost about a weeks wages for me, I think it was around 50 - 60 quid for the season. I pulled in the mindblowing wage of £275 (after tax and NI ) a month ... Still got wrecked every weekend with that, and bought a house
