The Best Ever Rangers Free Transfers...

Recommended Posts

Going to start with one of the most iconic players we have ever had, and to prove the point that players who turn out to be greats DO NOT HAVE TO COST A FORTUNE.

Dado Pršo

This player came to us on a free transfer, played 94 matches, and left such a mark on us that he is regarded as a legend.

This is a route we absolutely have to go down again: they don't all work, but the lightweights we have got have to be replaced.

Being in the top division would certainly help, but there are plenty of players out there looking to prove themselves, and we have got to be looking for them.

Post here any other free transfers that have worked out well for us......

Excellent example. (tu)

Sone Aluko was a good one who would have commanded a decent fee in different circumstances.

Was Davie Weir not a free too? If so what an unexpectedly fantastic servant, leader, role model and player he was.

I'd agree that Prso and Boumsong were two stunning pieces of business, for slightly different reasons, and Aluko was a revelation in his short spell. That said, no one can touch Wallace IMO. Not only do I believe he was our best free transfer but he was also one of our best players of that era which says it all really. Signed under the radar in amongst genuine top international players he more than held his own, and some. He was a great player, a great goalscorer, a real all rounder and had a bit of everything. Also, we, as a club, are judged on our success and Wallace played a significant role in our trophy hauls during that period, scoring in finals, old firm games and also in Europe to boot. You really couldn't have asked for anymore from him.
