The Strangest Ever Rangers Signings.

Reading the other thread reminded me of some of the more bizzare signings we have made. Dosen't have to be a bad player but just the circumstances surrounding the deal or one that came from left field. An example being Filippo Maniero the Italian who signed on deadline day and never kicked a ball for us before leaving shortly after.

Daniel Prodan!

rushed his medical because spurs started sniffing about, by fuck we made a cunt of that

also, not exactly strange, but apparently rangers under advocaat were interested in joos valgarren and then bert konterman became available, advocaat chose the dutch option and how we laughed and cried for the best part of 3 years maybe 4

Charlie Tully and Paddy Crerand.

An Old Firm select played Inverness

"SFA regulations of the time required all competing players to be signed to a single member club, so the five Celts selected for the occasion signed for Rangers and re-joined Celtic the following day. (One may ponder 'what if...'had Rangers refused to cancel the contracts thereafter!) Officially speaking, it was a Caley-Rangers friendly, albeit with a radically altered visitors lineup!

The Rangers/Celtic XI, who played in a Rangers strip of white shirts with blue/red hoops and white shorts, was as follows: Beattie (Celtic); King (Rangers), Kennedy (Celtic); Crerand (Celtic), Paterson, Millar (both Rangers); Tully (Celtic), Baird (Rangers), Conway (Celtic), Queen, Hubbard (both Rangers).2

Dragan Mladenovic.

Signed by McLeish in 04 from Red Star Belgrade. Big fanfare around him, "freekick master" was bandied about. Left after a year on a free having played 8 games.

Obviously Eck didn't fancy him after seeing him up close, but it was strange one, a player like that had to have been throughly scouted, so he must have looked the part at Red Star.
