Football Stadiums And Sports Grounds Outside Scotland

Scotland has the world's best traveling supporters, especially Rangers, so I'm sure a good few on here have travelled far and wide. Which football stadiums or sports grounds have you been to outside Scotland (to follow Rangers or just to see a local game) and what was your favorite? It would be good to hear some stories.

Thinks this covers all the ones I've been to if my memory serves me correctly, mostly down South, just a handful abroad.

Wembley

Twickenham

Old Trafford

Stamford Bridge

Selhurst Park

Craven Cottage

Loftus Road

Griffin Park

Upton Park

Highbury

The Den

Cardiff Arms Park

Millennium Stadium

San Siro

BJK Inonu Stadium (Besiktas)

MCG Melbourne

Colonial Stadium Melbourne

San Siro was the most awesome, got to say. It's just mammoth - and about twice the height of Ibrox - at least felt that way when you stand outside and look up. But have a big soft spot for the old Highbury, which reminded me of Ibrox in a way.

The maracana - Flamengo v botofogo . Incredible stadium , must have been 30000 there but it looked dead because of the size of the place . Got conned into buying non alcoholic beer though . Bastards

La bombenera - Boca v independiente . Has to be my favourite stadium outside ibrox ,sitting with the away fans , an unreal atmosphere and a entertaining game.

Estadio hernando siles - Bolivar v alianza Lima - Full house at around 40000 . 5 quid for a ticket , a beer , a convincing fake top and a taxi home . Fans were excellent even if the standard of football was really poor considering it was a copa libertadores match

Fratton park- Portsmouth v Torquay . Decent enough stadium ,no atmosphere though . Didn't help that Torquay beat them 1-0 in a performance mccoist would have been proud of .

Etihad Stadium - City v Chelsea, was a Monday night and Ivanovic scored the only goal from outside the area

St James Park - Saw the might NUFC v Coventry which ended in a bore draw back in 1998 ish

Westpac Stadium - Wellington Pheonix v Brisbane Roar 2012. Can't remember much of the game I think Brisbane won.

Nou Camp - Went to see Barcelona v Espanyol a few years back. Sat way up in the sky. Barca won 4-0 was some game.

AFAS Stadion - Saw AZ v Ajax which was a 3-2 thriller which the home side won. Was an amazing atmosphere for such a small stadium.

Only been to a few in London but I would like to go to see a couple of games in the Bundesliga over the new few years.

Emirates: Arsenal 2 - 0 Montpellier in the Champions League a few years ago.

Upton Park: West Ham 2 - 3 Spurs when Bale scored a last minute winner. Cracking game & atmosphere.

White Hart Lane: Spurs 1 - 0 Swansea.

Some interesting times travelling to non-league games. More about the people than the stadiums so the only ones that are memorable are the first two on the list and most impressive was Old Trafford (probably more so in the 80's as it was less 'corporate').

A few down England not so much abroad, Favorite abroad Red Star, massive crowd that night and a crazy home support, although Dortmund must be a close 2nd, My fav down England was the old Wembley stadium fantastic atmosphere, first time there was 79 Scotland v England 100,000 (and the rest),the guys with tickets were handing their stubs back outside and thousands more got in for nothing, guys inside tying scarfs together dropping them from a fair height to anyone who fancied being pulled up 40/50 feet into the stadium it;s a wonder no one was injured or even killed. Lost my mate at half time never seen him until late at night just before the train left kings x (the days before mobile phones). That was the good days before the tartan trannys took over.

Most of the grounds I've visited were in the 1970's- early 80's, before they got upgraded, or all-seated.

Old Wembley

Maine Road

Old Trafford

The Goldstone, Brighton (I worked there for a few yrs)

Highbury

Annfield (Wales v Scotland, when Jordan punched the ball, and we got a penalty, it did look like it was the Welsh guy that handled it, at the time)

Villa Park ( The game against us that was abandoned because fighting broke out all over the place, even on the pitch, fucking mental following Rangers back in those days)

St. James's Park Newcastle.

That's all I can remember.

Since the modernisation of football stadiums, I've been to Craven Cottage, Nou Camp, The Etihad, and that's about it.

Don't get out much these days, never mind getting out the country for a football game.

I'd like to visit some stadiums, that I'd been to prior to all seating, just to see how much they've changed. Only really visit Ibrox nowadays...

Went to the Olympic Stadium in Rome last year to see Lazio. Only half full but still a great atmosphere due to the protests against the board.

Down here I have been to Wembley(old), Spurs, Charlton, Fulham,Brighton,Crawley, Gillingham and Liverpool over the years.

Also been to Dover and Folkestone at non league level
