The tap in he missed at the back post was criminal! It was easier to score.

That said, having watched his interview after the game he was raging at himself for missing it and knows what he has to do to make sure he doesn't make the same mistake again.

He is a top player and would be first on my team sheet every week.

I'm not saying he's not qualify for us because clearly he has been, but he is missing a lot of chances that I feel an out and out goalscorer wouldn't. Hopefully he hasn't actually clicked yet and that is still to come. He missed a golden chance last week to make it 2-2 with a minute to go aswell l, a chance a Boyd of McCoist would have took.

I wouldn't hold the one that got cleared off the line against him. I was certain he was getting his hat trick but the defender seemed to appear from nowhere.

Waghorn is one of those players who scores the hard finishes (his first goal yesterday) but misses the easier ones (the open goal miss at the back post). Sadly I don't think this is something he will be able to work on in training. The ability is there but seems more of a mental thing to me. It is what it is.

Moment in the 2nd half Goat where he brilliantly lost his defenders in the box but then delayed his shot by thinking about it allowing the defenders to block.

Other than the obvious sitter, the one where the defender cleared it off the line aswell should have been a goal, the goalkeeper pulled off a cracking save from him aswell, but another one he had a clear shot at goal and hit straight at the goalie should have hit it higher and it would have been a goal.

I'd maybe put him on the right and give hardie a chance if we're cruising games with half an hour to go.

Love the guy, and this is going to sound mad considering he's the top scorer in Scottish football at the monent but I'm getting concerned at the chances he's missing. He should have had five yesterday.

I know someone is going to take this the wrong way, but I remember McCoist's finishing was like that his first couple of seasons at Rangers. Probably worse actually. He took pelters pretty much every week for the number of chances he missed.

During his third season something clicked and the efforts going the wrong side of the posts started going in.

Waghorn is a better all-round contributor (McCoist alternated between headless chicken and immobile lump), probably never as natural a finisher, but I reckon we'll see the best of him next season if he keeps starting games.

That's the thing with goal scoring - you either have it, or you don't. You can't teach it.

He would be excellent playing just behind a natural finisher.

He is missing an awful lot of good chances, which is a concern. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt though as I don't think he's ever really had regular first team football until now. Hopefully he will have it sorted before our assault of the Premiership.

I agree about playing him on the right and giving Hardie a run up front even as a 60 minute sub. For all of Oduwa's skill I find his final ball lets him down where as Waghorn seems more direct coming from the right plus his finishing won't be good enough for us in the SPFL next season to play CF.

All strikers miss chances, important thing is they don't let it affect them and are up there for the next opportunity.

Don't really mind too much Waghorn missing chances like he did yesterday, when it didn't really matter. However, he's got to start sticking the important ones away, like the one in the last minute last week.

The guy's just started being a regular starter in a team, he's now getting consistent game time under his belt something he's had no where else. I don't think he's quite clicked yet, but when he does... fucking watch out!

You can't go around comparing an RM legend like 'Waggy' to a pair of hated bit-part players like Boyd and McCoist... The fifteen-year-olds will crucify you.

Naw i know mate,he has been guilty of missing a few chances he should really have buried.

He is a work in progress and he will get better i'm sure, scary really because he already is a great asset to the team.

Early in the campaign he was guilty of snatching at chances and trying to lash them into the net instead of placing,he worked on that and tried to place a few he should have lashed!

He is a keen learner and a good pro so i have really high hopes for the big man.

On another note i think he is brilliant coming in from the right aswell and would like to see young Hardie get a shot in the centre with Waggy creating chances for him.

Boyd and McCoist both missed loads of chances-more than they successfully converted.

The important thing is that he's getting into the right positions at the appropriate time and contributing to our creation of chances, whiles scoring his fair share.

Every player makes mistakes. Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona, Zidane and Pele also missed chances and occasionally tripped over the ball or made a bad pass.

Compared with Boyd and a younger McCoist, he contributes a hell of a lot, in terms of ball retention and distribution. Given the stop/start nature of his career thus far, he's developing very well.

Well said Oleg, too many folk expecting too much from our players.

A lot can happen in a split second on a football park.
