Tremendous piece from Gary, really enjoyed reading this.

A great piece but Walter Tull was technically a Northampton Town player. It was only in 1940 that it was reported that he had agreed to join Rangers after the war ended. Its stretching a point to include him on the playing staff.

Rangers contribution is honourable enough without adding such a tenuous connection.

In the same respect, Wm Angus VC was not and never was a Celtic player.

He only represented them in one game as a trialist. He was a Wishaw Thistle player when he won the VC.

And should be seen as Wishaw Thistle player. They need tenuous links to excuse their reprehensible actions. Rangers have no such need. I have no doubt Walter Tull would have been a Rangers great and celebrated in the same way he is at Northampton had he played. He certainly understood who the open and inclusive club in Glasgow was and remains.
