WATBB 1,524
Ashley to take SFA to court for a £100k legal battle over the fine he was served due to "dual-controling"
North Rd 2,860
BILLIONAIRE Mike Ashley has launched a second big money legal case on the governing body of Scottish football – because he’s refusing to pay a paltry £1000 fine.Eight months ago the SFA hit the Newcastle owner with a £7500 fine for breaching their rules on dual control because of his influence over the previous Rangers regime which was led by his right-hand men, Derek Llambias and Barry Leach. In June that sum was reduced to just £1000 after Ashley’s lawyers appeared in front of an appeal tribunal at Hampden .But Record Sport can now reveal that the bill remains unpaid and that Ashley is now paying through the nose to have it booted out at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. The Sports Direct magnate has demanded a judicial review of the penalty and the case is set to be heard on February 4.It’s believed the final legal bill for dragging the SFA back into the dock could top £100,000.A victory for Ashley’s highly-paid team of QCs would leave the SFA having to pick up that entire tab.Furious Hampden bosses fear that case alone could cost the Scottish game a small fortune, even though they remain confident of winning given the weight of legal advice behind their decision to give King the all clear despite his tax convictions in South Africa and his previous role as a director on Craig Whyte’s Rangers board. But now they are livid at the thought of being forced into a second courtroom trial all because Ashley has refused to accept their £1000 dual-control sanction. It’s estimated a loss for the SFA could cost the game around £100,000 – a sum which could buy half of a new 4th generation artificial pitch, or keep four community coaches employed for a year.A source said: “Ashley’s aggressive behaviour towards Scottish football is getting completely out of hand. His personal vendetta against Dave King and Rangers was one thing but it’s now spilling over into other areas which could effect the whole of the game in this country.“As if Scottish football doesn’t have enough problems of its own already now it has Ashley running around like a bull in a china shop.”

If Ashley really wanted - He could put Scottish Football down the train.Tbh mate I couldn't give a fuck about Scottish football only Rangers. At this moment in time the last thing we need is to be antagonising the SFA especially with the witch hunt that is going on just now against our great club. thehost 11,061
personally I hope he bankrupts, the already morally bankrupt, SFA. Maybe if SDM had acted in such a manner we would have been whipping boys, we have been, these last ten years.

gogzy 31,195
The fact that he is willing to risk 100k in fees to avoid paying 1k that he doesnt feel he owes is both mental and a bit scary. This is the man we have declared war on. I wish he had nothing whatsoever to do with us.

trueblueal 2,117
I can see the SFA withdrawing his dispensation to have a dual interest up to 10%. Not that they can enforce it but that'd another story.
scott12003 720
Can the SFA now involve the English Fa as the fine for MA relates to ownership in their association too.The FA have been reluctant to get involved so far.http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/05/the-fa-dismiss-concerns-about-mike-ashleys-running-of-newcastleBut they might have no choice now! Londonderry_Bear 111
I was thinking that this was some sort of pre-emptive strike against the special resolution at the AGM to remove his voting rights but if the case isn't to be heard until February I don't see the point of it

Corky True Legend 2,682
He is taking the SFA to court, not Rangers. We should be putting our animosity towards him aside in this case and supporting him. Or does pulling together only apply to those who did not support Mr King?
