Hibs Can't Catch Rangers - Michael Chopra

Hibs can't match Rangers in the Championship title race and I'm going to prove it on Saturday, says Chopra.

MICHAEL CHOPRA knows all about coming up against quality opposition from his time in the Premiership, and he reckons Mark Warburton's Rangers side are streets ahead of the Hibees in the title race.

ALLOA frontman Michael Chopra is ready to shoot down Hibs and fuel his belief Rangers are title winners in waiting.

The former Premiership striker reckons the Light Blues are feeling the benefit of stability on the park and renewed financial strength off it.

The ex-Newcastle, Sunderland and Cardiff star has been impressed by the recent run of Hibs who go to Recreation Park this weekend bidding to make it eight league wins in a row.

However, Chopra maintains it’s Rangers who are the best side in the Championship and their style and transfer market substance will prove telling in the months ahead.

He said: “This is the best Rangers team I’ve seen in a long time and they now boast something they haven’t been able to claim for a few years – stability.

“There’s a belief Mark Warburton should never have been sacked last season given the quality of his work at Brentford and it’s no surprise English clubs are noticing him again at Ibrox.

“I speak to my former team-mates such as Andy Halliday and Martyn Waghorn and they don’t have a bad thing to say about their boss.

“Going forward, Rangers are unbelievable. I know they can leave gaps in behind but the amount of chances they create means they will always be confident of scoring more than the opposition.

I should have scored a goal recently at Ibrox that would have pegged them back at 2-1 but the chances are they would have scored more.

“Rangers are the best team I’ve played against this season and you’ve only got to look at the number of goals James Tavernier has scored from the full-back position to highlight their attacking strengths.

“I don’t think Hibs have that and Rangers also have two players for every position in the team. It’s not something Hibs possess.

“Rangers have already spoken about going out in the January transfer window and adding another couple of players to their squad.

“They say they are ready to bring in players of Premiership quality and that will only help their push for promotion.”

That said Chopra, 31, has been impressed with the work of Alan Stubbs this term and they reduced the gap at the top to just two points with a midweek win over Livingston.

Chopra added: “Up to a couple of weeks ago you would have thought Rangers would have walked it but the title race has opened up again.

“Hibs have done well and I’ve been really impressed by their strikers Jason Cummings and James Keatings.

“It’s good for the league they’re challenging Rangers at the top but we’ll be doing all we can to dent their confidence this weekend.”

The media are definitely trying to portray that Rangers have it in the bag.Hate reading this shite when there's a half a season to go .Over confidence will not be a good thing .I feel that's what the media are trying to do in every other season .As if we have an arrogance

I think its more the supporters that have an arrogance, rather than the players or current Management team.

I was guilty of this same arrogance last season. :anguish:

That's fair comment Smile .I think the media will try to misquote on occasions in coming months if it stays close though .Haven't seen a negative headline in last few days .What the hell is going on

If Chopra had came out and said he tipped Hivs for the league and that he thought they had the better quality he'd be getting it in the neck on here from some as well I suspect. Some of our support appear to just want to moan for the sake of it.

I just think he shouldn't say anything like that before their game.
