that really WAS a bad challenge...

After I got hacked playing football by a lad who told me he was going to take me out the ref told me "You'll be alright in 10 minutes" and waved away the calls of my team for the player to be sent off or at least yellowed. And as I hobbled off the pitch the assurances of my team-mate that "If its broken I'll take your place as captain" and the constant reminders of "Wow thats a bad one eh son" from everyone I passed didnt exactly fill me with confidence but as ever it was my dad who calmed me down with a simple "Have a shower and you'll be alright" it now turns out that a shower woudlnt be sufficient to get me playing again...

Now no less than 6 weeks on from the tackle I still can't walk properly and the idea of jogging is a long way off in my mind im visiting the doctors tommorow to be given a pysio regime to follow but with the season about to start up again and im not even able to walk when its cold let alone jog and sprint my way through a 90 minute game. Im feeling really bad now as I cant really do anything except sit in my room - so next time I see a lad on the ground in pain after I tackled him I'll not be so quick to tell him to get up and stop whinging cause for all I know he'll be sitting in his room 6 weeks later thinking how much of a prick I was to tackle him like that - having said that I probably didnt help the image of me being in pain since the first thing I did was look at the guy who tackled me and said "You just wait till I cant stand you prick you'll be dead" and then proceeded to be carried off the pitch and sit there for 20 minutes in the cold shouting at the lad and bandaging my leg in the hope I could hop myself to the goal

Some of these tackles in amateur games are unreal. I basically stopped playing for that reason - I hospitalised too many people

No, just kidding. Sorry to hear that you were injured so badly and best of luck on the recovery. (tu)

Sounds nasty m8 - you have my sympathy there. All too easy sometimes to see red and get stuck intae someone, but it's a far different matter when you're on the receiving end. Never fear - his karma will come back to haunt him. Hope your recovery is fast and successful. (tu)
