somersetbear 74
Only 19k capacity? Thought they were supposed to be a "Big Club" https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/aberdeen-fc/916485/aberdeen-brink-historic-40million-stadium-move/

Guest
Isnt that lower than their current capacity Glad to see how much the SPL clubs have grown since they shafted us
BRITNEY IS NOT FEELING IT 8,293
AHAHAHAH , Up there the cunts will be getting a higher attendance at the cattle market ffs
there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
Wikipedia tells me Pittodrie holds 20961. Why build a new smaller stadium? Most clubs move to a bigger one. I presume they must have some scope for expansion? I wonder what size the trophy room is going to be?
BlueSuedeSambas 56,413
It would be a bit pointless building a bigger stadium when they can barely fill the one they have at the moment. Even with the best form they've shown in the best part of twenty years they only have an average attendance of just over 13,000.
Guest
They'll build a smaller stadium then say its part of the clubs expansion
harlands plater 17,158
They were bumping their gums about a 30,000 seater a few years ago, good to see a bit of reality has set in. Even 19k will be big enough to cover a few thousand seats with big banners, as is the fashion at every ground in the top league since we were shafted. OlegKuznetsov 10,816
Is there a wee bit of state-aid going on here? Also, if Stuart Milne's involved, will the roof be so unconvincing that he has to remove it after a few years just to avoid further ridicule? The Educator 1,572
Have big doubts that this plan will go ahead. To me it looks like some smoke and mirrors to divert their fans from why they blew their best chance in decades of winning a title.
Trooblue 2,018
Hope they crash and burn like Dundee United. Sooner the better.

WTF is wrong with the fans of these clubs? I would have thought the place would have been a sellout most matches.

FSM 20,892
Given house prices in Aberdeen, I wonder who owns the land where the current stadium is and how much it could be worth with flats/house built on it. Enough to cover the cost of the new stadium or at least a large chunk of it?

Stewart Milne's housebuilding company buying it from the club to develop it into new seaview flats? Quote Plans for a new stadium began when the club indicated that further development of Pittodrie Stadium was not possible due to the age of the ground and the restrictions from surrounding land. The severe disruption to the clubs activities, and the potential to wipe out some of the club's debt by selling the club owned land for redevelopment, moreover, made a new stadium the only viable option.
