I have yet to see the fan footage .That is how bad the coverage is

It's shocking how one sided it is. Again, violence isn't right but they should at least be balanced about it. I haven't seen any footage of the linesmen being hit.

it's a full in the face punch as well.

In the ET , Unreal the outcry of sympathy towards him ffs , has nobody looked at a replay of the incident

A VILE piece of graffiti threatening to 'hang' former celtic manager Neil Lennon has been condemned by anti-sectarian groups.

A spray-painted message situated in the Tynecastle area of Edinburgh, close to capital club Hearts, clearly states 'Hang Neil Lennon', the current boss of their rivals Hibernian.

Campaign groups from across the country have spoken out about the targeted attacks on the Northern Irishman.

Dave Scott of Nil by Mouth, Scotland's leading anti-sectarian charity, said: "Nothing screams ‘gutless moron’ like graffiti of this kind."

Mr Lennon's agent has now spoken out about the abuse his client has faced, saying he is targeted because he is an Irish-Catholic who has previously played for celtic.

The former Northern Ireland international retired from international football in 2002 after graffiti showing "RIP Neil Lennon" appeared alongside a hangman's noose.

Campaigners for anti-Catholic bigotry and anti-Irish racism in Scotland have also spoken of their horror at the message.

A spokeswoman for the Call It Out campaign said: "The attack on Neil Lennon follows a pattern of attacks on him both physical and verbal and the latest 'hanging' graffiti is particularly chilling.

"Call it Out are clear that he is being attacked because he is a high profile Irish Catholic. Those who have sought to blame Lennon himself must bear some responsibility for the continuing attacks on him.

"We stand with Neil Lennon in saying we have had enough of anti-Catholic bigotry and anti-Irish racism in Scotland."

The latest message comes amid a police investigation into an incident which saw the manager hit by a coin during Wednesday night's Edinburgh derby.

Lennon was struck in the face by a pound coin towards the end of the derby which saw him receive treatment for the injury.

Police Scotland described the incidents as “mindless acts of violence” and said officers are investigating.

Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal was also floored by an apparent attack from a supporter during the match.

Chief Inspector Murray Starkey, match commander, said: “Police Scotland condemn the mindless acts of violence which included missiles being thrown during last night’s Edinburgh derby.

“I can confirm we are investigating two separate incidents involving the Hearts goalkeeper and the Hibernian manager during the match.

“A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to an assault involving the assistant referee.

“A total of five arrests have been made."

He should be embarrased because the coin hit him on the chest and he falls down holding has face like he gets hit by Mike Tyson. He provoked them and then cries about it. Fucking idiot. And the 2 "anti-sectarian" organizations sound like they only want to protect people from one religion only. They are upset about stupid graffiti but a goalkeeper gets a punch in the face and is not talked about. Is strange!

Whatever we say about Rhodent No 1

He knows how to stir  Scottish football in his favour

The referees strike ,Mccoist gate .The little evil scumbag has done it again

Watching the incident again .You can clearly see him, seeing the coin bounce of his chest .And quickly thinking .I'm going down here .His legs all of a sudden give way .Little cunt that he is

And unlike 1999 .We have everyone and their beggar loving Auntie wanting justice.

Listening to Sky is nauseating .Walker on slandering everyone involved .Except the year on year behaviour of this lunatic

Surely there is someone out there brave enough to say, it's not a coincidence to think that these things keep happening to this hateful little scumbag for a reason

Nope .With the exception of Caldwell who may have been put under a security blanket for now .No bastard with any integrity will even question he is faking it

This little piece of vermin  continually brings Scottish football into disrepute with his behaviour

I mean how much evidence do the media need .He is untouchable because of who is.

What really pisses me off .In 1999 .There was no calls for authorities to find the hundreds throwing coins at Dallas .I don't think we even had anyone person brought to justice for the worst fan behaviour in Scottish football history

His appointment as manager sparked the beginning of the celtic we have today, their board played to the gallery as a response to the pressure coming from the stands as Smith schooled them once again year after year . Could maybe claim it started under oneil but lennon cemented it. They have become more rabid ever since.

Lennon WAS hit by coin, APPARENT attack on goalkeeper. The guy is a Ned but the media have him up beside mother Theresa as some saintly picked upon catholic.

That's the bit that stuck out for me. Nothing apparent at all about it. That keeper is now getting trolled on Twitter by both sets of feniens. Toxic, toxic people.

They don't get the irony about sectarianism and that it isn't just anti catholic

There is barely any footage of this and most of it is grainy, almost as if it didn't happen!

BROADCASTER Peter Martin has slammed the “hooligans, thugs and bigots” who abuse Neil Lennon as people who still believe “Protestants are the chosen people”.

The Hibs boss was decked at Tynecastle last night after being struck by a coin thrown from the Hearts support.

ANDY BARR - THE SUN GLASGOW

The culprit who threw the missile from the stands has yet to be identified.

But Martin has used his column with PLZ Soccer to launch a tirade against those who have targeted the manager.

Writing on PLZ Soccer, Martin said: “Hooligans, thugs, and bigots still dominate Scottish football, they haven’t gone away.

“They just try to be more clever in trying to get away with their criminal acts of aggression and their vile chants towards any groups that don’t follow their ‘Klan’s’ ethos.”

JOHN KIRKBY

Peter Martin has slaughtered those who abuse Neil Lennon

Martin suggested that Lennon’s background as a Northern Irish Catholic made him a target.

He wrote: “He fits all the stereotypes despised by a group of people who still believe Great Britain has an empire and that Protestants are chosen people.

“Anyone outside that group tends to suffer their wrath on any platform they wander through.”

Later in the column, he adds: “You are naive if you don’t believe that Lennon is the target for an exaggerated amount of abuse because he is a Roman Catholic

Fuck me I always thought he was all right.

You have to admire their utter delusion. Rather than it simply being down to some pissed up guy reacting to his rival manager taunting him in a major moment of a high profile game Peter has thrown in anti Catholicism, Britain's empire past and a wee klan reference as the reason behind it all

How many Roman Catholic Northern Irishmen have plyed their trade in Scottish football over the years?  I'd guess there will be hundreds.  How many have been "targeted" because of what they are and where they come from?

In all my years following football in Scotland, from the mid 70s until now there's never been an individual that's been central to so much bad feeling.  And the honest truth for me is it's purely because of his attitude and behaviour.   It's an insult to all of us to pretend it's something else, something it's not.  If it was, as they say, why hasn't it happened to every other Catholic Northern Irishman?

The answer is it didn't happen because the claim isn't true, and no one in the press or authority will dare speak out for fear of having their career ruined by being branded a bigot,  shame on them.

Neil should take a leaf out of Rodgers book. He has Rangers fans in the Clyde tunnel stopping and dodging rush hour traffic to rush out and tell him great he is. All while handing out Brenda Rodgers scarfs to imaginary old woman.
