Ventricular fibrillation is a heart rhythm problem that occurs when the heart beats with rapid, erratic electrical impulses. This causes pumping chambers in your heart (the ventricles) to quiver uselessly, instead of pumping blood.

Taser International knowingly and actively suppressed the findings of studies (by top heart surgeons on pig subjects) that they themselves commissioned and paid for that raised concerns regarding "ventricular fibrillation" during Taser use.

Taser International promised and promoted their products as safe and in no way "affecting cardiac pumping."  They put profits over public safety.

I understand the position that Inigo is outlining, albeit he's using Scotland as his reference point (taser supplies over 100 countries), that police should have effective tools to do their jobs.

They also need to be trained by an objective independent trainer, in full knowledge of the facts of what can happen inside the human body while they are pulling the trigger, often repeatedly and for long periods of time on these very powerful weapons.  They should be given the training on how to recognise and resuscitate someone in ventricular fibrillation rather than keep them in handcuffs on the pavement while they slowly die.

Do you know what training they are given in rescucitation and stuff mate?

The police don't regard them as 'safe'. 'Less-lethal', which is how they refer to it, does not mean safe. They appear to be fully aware that they can cause death, as can a baton.

Finally, regards the first sentence, you could make something similar for the effects of a police baton when used on a human body, with equally dangerous effects.

No reasonable forms of self-defence are safe and non-lethal.
