Honestly its a horrific injury but thats one of the worst red cards ever. Not even a free kick.

IMO it’s a free kick. He dives in with no control of his momentum and snaps the kids ankle with his trailing leg.

Under current rules that’s a red.

General consensus from everyone is its never a red.

I thought the same until they showed it again in detail. When he jumps into the tackle both feet leave the ground meaning he can’t control the force of it. As I understand it in the modern game it’s a red . Totally accidental I agree but it did endanger the opponent because of the way he went in.

Apparently he’s a massive cunt.

"Apparently" from who? An online fans forum?

Fucking mental that a young player has a career threatening injury and one of the first things some people think to do is to bitch about them.

Xenoestrogens have a lot to answer for.

No it's not, Son got his red card rescinded in the Gomes leg break!

Yea he did wrongly imo. Without that tackle elliot doesn't break his leg. As a result of that tackle he has its serious foul play. Will the red carded be overturned probably but it shouldn't be.

It's unfortunate and a complete accident but that's irrelevant.

Any leg break that's from a opposition tackle should be a red. If elliot jumps into that tackle and breaks his own leg. Then that's a different argument.

Hutton went into doo the boy and ended up breaking his own leg. Where would this stand in Kirk's rule book?

What about 2 players in a fair tackle and a leg breaks? Should he be off?

Not a chance that should’ve been a red card. There was no malice. An unfortunate ending to the tackle. This could/should be rescinded.

If a leg break as a result of a tackle isn't a red then I don't know what is.

It will be overturned hence why the ref gave a straight red you can appeal those.

If the Leeds boy breaks his leg making that challenge then it's unfortunate. I dunno what u expect me to say if a guy breaks his own leg How's that anymore else's fault?

Elliott broke his leg as a direct result of a challenge on him.

Completely different scenarios mate.
