Saying he thrives on pressure, winning trophies etc. Villa have just lost to a promoted team and there will be nothing much more said about it - compare that to us when we lost to Livi under Gerrard in his first season. Not even going to discuss winning trophies as Villa realistically can’t win anything of note (unless they get relegated and they are in the Championship). Probably they will finish around 8th - 12th but if they finish 14th again not much would probably be said - compare that to us if we aren’t 1st. Don’t hold sour grapes as think GVB can be an upgrade and it banked us an extra £5 million - but yeah just can’t explain it from his side. Anyone with ambition to play/manage at the top level would leave the SPL to go to the EPL regardless of which level of the EPL that is. We're a huge club but unfortunately we play in a shite league where most of the opposition is English League One level and we've probably reached our Europa league limit with the finances we have. Villa are a decent club, but I’d like to think we/celtic are still a more attractive prospect than a Burnley/Watford etc where relegation is a huge possibility, and I’d even stretch us as far as saying us/celtic are more attractive than Villa. Appreciate the level of course, and maybe if a club which is a top 4 contender in Germany came in for him at the time I could understand him moving on but I don’t think finishing 8th for next couple of seasons will get him the Liverpool job in comparison to winning maybe 3x titles in a row and doing decent in the CL with us.
