What player did you want to be growing up?

McCoist, growing up no else even came close to McCoist for me he was my hero and I thought he was the greatest ever and not even the likes of Gazza or Laudrup got the praise from me like Ally did, ye just epitomised Rangers for me when I was a kid. I remember copying all his goal celebrations from videos I'd seen and falling out with my friends if they said they were playing as Ally

Thinking about it now is quite sad, you never see kids out playing football pretending to be their favourite players any more, there's at least 3 footy pitches within a mile of me and none of them ever get used, when I was wee we had a big back garden and as far as we were concerned my back garden was Ibrox park and every day we'd all play football till dark but it seems that's a thing of the past

Didn't even have to be football pitches when I was younger, there's a car park in the street I grew up on that was empty a lot of the time and that was our pitch. It was on a hill but that didn't matter to us. If the car park was out of bounds we'd move further along the street where there was a cracking wee spot to play records etc. That spot happened to be on a road as well but the street was relatively quiet so again it didn't matter to us.

Nowadays kids get chased on the rare occasions you do see them having a kickabout in the streets and the actual football complexes aren't affordable to everyone.

The five a side place up the road from me charges 50 odd quid to get a pitch for an hour. Not a big deal for a group of guys that want to play once or twice a week but a bit much for kids that want to play every other day.

Ally was like a mythical superhero for me being so young when we were doing 9 in a row , I had Spider-Man who climbed walls , superman who flew , batman who battered bad cunts and ally who scored against Celtic as my heroes

why it guts me how it has all panned out lately .
