It's useful to see the side up against a very good German side and it gives us a very decent workout during this mid season break. Not to mention its value to the travelling Support to go see a game in Europe again even if is just a friendly. Maybe a bigger value is direct first hand experience of playing a good European side even if it does illustrate the gulf in quality. It's one thing knowing it in theory but being out there to experience playing against that sort of quality must surely be beneficial. It gives Warburton and Weir first hand insight into what they need to be telling King about the sort of money that King would need to start to find at some point in time if Rangers are to be competitive again in Europe. Sure King will know this - in theory - but he can now watch the video and see for himself yet again what more needs to be done. Another value in a game like this is it keeps our name in the minds of European clubs. Who else could take that sort of travelling support to away games that are friendlies? If it helps to add to the weight of argument for cross border leagues, and for the TV interest that goes with it, then that would be another plus point from a game like this. Toral looks decent in this sort of company.
