big blue Fin 3,724
Given how bad we've been playing this season do we really think we're ready for European competition again? Without a major investment on the part of the board and king then I fear the worst a real going over by FC Woodafukurthey? of Wherzatplace? Now, ok I may be being overly pessimistic but we've all seen it in the past.

craigyrfc11 24
Given that we have failed in our last 3 qualifying attempts losing in Europe too Kaunas,Malmo and Maribor with much better side than we currently have i would be delighted if we could make it into Europa League group stages playing four qualifying rounds unseeded is big task is why major investment will be needed in summer if we are to compete at this level. Being unseeded makes it extremely hard to qualify. It's hard to tell at this stage but we will likely be unseeded from the first round onwards. simplythebest 11,453
I definitely want us to qualify you need to start somewhere, but certainly not got any optimism that we'll get to the group stages and in a financial sense that would make it a waste of time. Apart from a bit of extra revenue from the home legs which being in the summer likely won't be sell outs anyway there's next to no money to be made before the groups
LaudrupsPatrickBoots 13,510
Regardless of what the results might be, I find it astonishing that after what we've all endured for the last few years that any of our fans wouldn't want to be playing in European competition again. I thought the CL losers in the play off went straight to the group's and it's the losers from the previous round that go into the Europa play off round ? Suspects Scotland's wont be high enough though.

denya 1,661
I do not see how anyone would not want us to compete in the Europa League even if it is the 1st qualifying round. We need to be in Europe and if that means going into 1st round then so be it. At the moment we definitely would not make it to the group stage but some rubbish teams have made it through to the last qualifying stage in the past. It has to be our aim I've said a few times if we don't make the group stages it's a waste of time in many respects, next to no money will be gained to help the finances and there'd virtually be no coefficient gains I obviously want us to get back into Europe I simply have no optimism that we'll get anywhere in it

I would prefer the qualifiers any day of the week with the slight possibility that we actually might get further than expected and even reach the group stage. King's talked about the importance of getting back into Europe but he's going to have to change things for us to make a good go of progressing in it otherwise we're back to square one really. Of course I'm not someone who's talked about hoping we're not in it we have to start progress somewhere. I'm just hoping we can go into it with new management and some decent transfer activity behind us, no guarantees but so there's at least a chance
