Who's this no nonsense solid defensive midfielder you're talking about? Haven't seen him all season!

He's not a DM though.....what is it with us and square pegs for round holes???

Sometines you need to use whatever pegs you have.

Didnt think he was that bad tonight, certainly a few very poor passes.

Solid? Sorry but Hallidays about as solid as a baby's first shite.

Thought Toral had a nightmare first 20 minutes but settled after that. Feel more safer with him playing DM than I do Halliday although that isn't saying much.

Very true mate, but I reckon Holt would have been a far better candidate for DM tonight, and we must surely have other players in the squad that could do that role. I just despair at the number of times we get players who specialise in one area of the field and we force them to play somewhere else.

Still, we won, that's the main thing. :tu:

I thought he really matured tonight before tiring.Started off terrible, but as the game went on he was really getting to grips with the game and some of his positioning and passing was superb.

Obvious he prefers to play the Spanish way with movement, making space and passing, rather than the Scotish mentality of "never mind the ball, let's get on with the midfield battle" attitude.

Arteta was the same when he first came here, and we saw it in Zelalem too. They both improved once they toughened up a bit (although Zelalem was still unsure a bit about the physical side), and I expect Toral to do the same.

(Edit: Just realised all three mentioned there were at Arsenal.)
