Tactics for Sunday...

Recommended Posts

Someone to smash Brown in the first few mins would be nice.

Forget about going toe - toe with them, man marking their best players is also a gamble because their other players could easily exploit the spaces left.

We need to be difficult to beat next weekend, disciplined and find the ability to concentrate for 90mins.

Is it just me or is there a pattern starting to emerge before old firm games in that our team tend to perform in the match or 2  before it and then go back to shite when the day arises?

thrash Peterhead in the petrofac 4-0 then drew with the Tims thrash Linfield 7-0 then get thrashed 5-1. We won 2 on the bounce before the semis in October then had 1/2 shots on target vs them lost 1-0   Won 4 on the bounce then drew vs saints and ultimately lost another old firm game 2-1 with them coming from behind.

not looking good for next week is it?

They need to work like fuck especially closing down in midfield  we lost heavily last time because are midfield was utter shit  and non existent

If Halliday plays we are fucked fed up seeing him  pushed off the ball and bullied

As our defence is weak to say the least we have to press them back middle to front like we have been doing last couple of games. Attack is the best form of defence.

If we invite them on to us by losing the midfield battle we could get a hiding but if we play pressing football from the middle up who knows......

2 hours ago, Gandalf the Blue said:

Halliday can't start. And Tav has to be disciplined and help Keirnan.

That happens and we've got a chance no matter the formation.

Don't even know if kiernan will be playing! He might be suspended

Be compact, tight, and organised. Concentrate, track your man and be brave on the ball and in the tackle. Don't give away cheap possession or free kicks. Make it difficult for them. Be hard to break down.

Give the ball to McKay at every opportunity and tell him to run at Lustig every chance he has. He tormented him at Ibrox, and with the open spaces they leave in behind, he could have a field day again. Get Hyndman on the ball. Let him express himself. Don't be afraid to go long, play diagonals and hit it in behind to utilise the pace of McKay, Waghorn and even Miller to an extent. They don't have lots of pace at the back.

Win free kicks high up the park and corners, then get the ball into the box. They can't deal with crosses into the box and Saturday should we can be a real threat from set pieces/corners. Garner in that respect will be a blow as that's effectively what his game is made for. Regardless, Hill, Kiernan, Toral, Miller, Waghorn etc can cause problems from corners.
