That's me praying that Giannis heads somewhere else. Get my Pelicans a Celtics-Nets situation.

For first time in a long while, pretty positive about their future. Although losing Jrue is a shame.

Giannis isn't going anywhere, the Bucks are pushing for one last tilt with him this year before he goes elsewhere in FA next summer (the Lakers, hopefully)

I think the Bucks reckon if they can win a chip with him he will opt to stay. He has always been this really loyal, hard-working guy. I'm not so sure. I think if he wins a chip there he will basically see it as 'job done' and move elsewhere to make his chances of adding 2/3/4 a lot easier

Well that's the hope for me is he stays for the year and bounces. Bucks would have to rebuild with Pelicans holding their picks. Plus Jrue was too good to be in another rebuild. One of the top defenders in the league.

Just realised you're a Pelicans fan. Thanks for AD :stevieg:

😂

With us going with Alvin Gentry for so long there was no chance of us going anywhere. Our front office was awful too, especially what we gave up for guys like Asik who wouldn't even fit next to AD.

Talk of Steven Adams now going to NO as part of the Holliday deal with the Bucks. Not sure how he fits next to Zion.

I think it's a good move - I saw a pic of Zion recently and he has lost a chunk of weight. They clearly don't want him banging with the physical bigs in the league. Adams can occupy them and take the load off Zion

Meanwhile we brought in Montrezl Harrell, unbelievable signing for the money we are offering

Disappointed that we haven't brought Dwight back though

Harrell absolutely fell apart after the shutdown though, he was expecting big money and that killed it. Hopefully he can resume how he was before though.

True enough plus Zion has had some bother with his weight too. Must be a reason they didn't bring Dwight back as he went to the 76'ers for the minimum.

Aye, he has defensive frailties and Rivers fucked it up in the playoffs by persisting with him. I have confidence in Frank Vogel making sure we can run schemes around him. In any case, when it comes to crunch time, AD is playing the 5 and Harrell will be on the bench.

Schroder / Harrell / Waiters / Kuz is a hell of a 2nd unit (assuming Dion re-signs). Defensive issues yes, but the big thing for us was our lack of scoring punch off the bench and we have basically tried to remedy that and hope that the defence doesn't fall off too badly!

Theres a report going around that there was a huge miscommunication between us and Dwight. We laid out a 'deal framework' with him, he thought that was us putting the deal up, despite it needing signed off internally by ownership. He tweeted out he was signing for us then deleted it a few minutes later. Apparently then due to the Lakers radio silence he opted for the 76ers, Darryl Morey who he knows from his time in Houston, was chasing him quite hard.

All a bit unfortunate, I'd have taken him back on the vet's minimum 100%.

Yeah it seems like you're going to have more scoring off the bench this time but it seems to be at the expense of real experienced players. Rondo will be a huge loss next playoffs I think.

We have managed to upgrade JaVale McGee with Marc Gasol

Unbelievable. We have an excellent team now, comfortably the best in the West.

C Gasol, Harrell
PF AD, Kuz, Dudz
SF LeBron, THT
SG KCP, Matthews
PG Caruso, Schroder

So many rotation opportunities. LeBron will likely handle the ball as PG in the crunch moments unless Schroder can prove himself over the regular season. AD will play the 5 in crunch time.

Hopefully we can bring back Waiters on a minimum and maybe even DeMarcus Cousins and that's a very nice roster

Giannis staying with the Bucks and signing the supermax, happy to see him try to build something rather than jump ship at the first opportunity.

He's winning fuck all in Milwaukee, but fair play to him for securing the $$$

Zion and BI looking good in the first preseason, this is probably the most balanced NO team I've seen so hopefully they're moving in the right direction with SVG.

BI

Hopefully back to the Lakers one day. Love that guy

Brooklyn getting off to a flyer so far in their pre-season opener. Up by nearly 30 before HT - absolutely flying offensively.

Keegan's Newcastle... and that is before they could add Harden..

They are going to be the must watch team this year, for so many reasons - KD and Kyrie looked pretty sharp but they as a pair such fun to hate pricks it is going to make their mental goings on off court a riot to watch

Such a shame fans won't be at games this year, so many Brooklyn games would have been great for the crowd reactions to them they would have got hounded everywhere.

On a side note, I quite enjoyed the crowd piped in noise at the 76ers game last night, they even had the crowd shouting sucks after every Celtics player was named  with no one there.

I think as long as the front office at Milwaukee are competent enough to get him a supporting cast then he may get 1, I know you like the Lakers but thank god he isn't going there as they would be more dominant than the Warriors were with him AD and Lebron there.

I can't see him winning one will he has a better creator with him, I think that if he was paired with for example even a Donovan Mitchell or Jamal Murray it would utterly change the dynamic of Giannis as a player, it is a true to say you need two top pretty top level pitch talents to win one.

I actually think he is a bit wanting at the top level come Play Off time, Miami made him look quite average* I thought as did the Raports the year before once they had a look at him . I am not denying he is an unreal force during the regular slog of the league season but I think quite a few hide their hand then

*I caveat average with when compared to other top level stars.

He had an excellent cast last year:

Bledsoe - great PG, lots of experience
Korver - 3pt specialist, can space the floor
Brook & Robin Lopez - two great bigs who can both shoot from beyond the 3pt arc and space the floor
Wesley Matthews - excellent two-way player, lots of experience (and I'm very, very happy we picked him up at the Lakers)
Middleton - all star

He then had guys like Connaughton and George Hill who are handy players. Hill was shooting lights out last year from 3pt range

They just totally underestimated the Heat and Spoelstra / Riley completely outsmarted Mike Budenholzer

The East is looking very strong this year. Philly have made some great pick ups, Miami will come back stronger, the Hawks will surprise a few IMO, Celtics with further growth from Jayson Tatum, Nets with KD and Kyrie.

Ultimately, none of them will beat the Lakers while we have AD and LeBron.

Yes I agree with this. Frank Vogel uses game 1 of each playoff series to size up the opposition!

Unless AD acts like the bitch he was in his time with New Orleans, tbh I think Bucks although Holliday is an upgrade they're not as strong as they were.

Looks like the early draft forecast was true with there being little top quality but very deep. Lots of good signs from late 1st rounders.

Doesn't change his past though. All it takes is one injury for Lebron or AD and they're out.

The roster that we have built for this upcoming season is excellent though and sets us up really well to completely remove the load from Bron and AD in the regular season, so that they are ready to go in the playoffs.

Schroder especially is a great pick-up. Marc Gasol was showing his passing ability the other day. Just didn't get that at all from Dwight or JaVale. Wesley Matthews is like-for-like with Danny Green and again, solid ties to the Lakers with his dad being a two-time champ with us.

THT is showing he is worthy of decent minutes this year too and I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade Kuz in a few months for a pick.

We coasted to the championship last year and have gotten better this year IMO. LeBron isn't showing any signs of ageing which is remarkable and AD is the 2nd best player in the league after him. I can't wait to see this team up against the Nets. I want that LeBron/Kyrie rivalry (which Kyrie has basically built himself) and AD up against a fully-fit KD (hopefully)
