Tenerife Bear 1,748
Dreadful result but it's only a friendly and the team was likely full of last seasons imposters. Which only fuels Need for clear out.

To be fair "quite a strong team" could at best involve 4, more likely 3, of our 6 signings, 8 if you include the 2 pending visas. Plus Kranjcar and Rossiter both playing for the 2nd time this season, and Wallace returning from injury.

Guest Lloyd72
RANGERS continued preparations for the new season with a closed door friendly against The New Saints today. An own goal by TNS gave Pedro Caixinha’s men the lead minutes after the start of the second half, but the Welshmen pulled one back through Alex Darlington on the sixtieth minute, with the game finishing 1-1. The Gers lined up the match with Wes Foderingham in goal, James Tavernier at right back, Lee Wallace on the left and Fabio Cardoso alongside Ross McCrorie in the middle of defence. In midfield, Ryan Jack partnered Jason Holt, with Niko Kranjcar playing in front of them. Dalcio started on the left hand side, with Kenny Miller on the right and Martyn Waghorn up front. Rangers started brightly and carved out the first chance of the game as Dalcio got on the ball on the right and cut inside for the run of Waghorn, only for the striker to lash the ball over the bar. Caixinha’s men enjoyed the bulk of possession in the opening twenty minutes, moving the ball well before Tavernier released Waghorn from the right which he slotted home under the keeper only for the assistant to raise his flag for a tight offside. That spurred TNS into life and Jack brought down a Welsh midfielder and from a well delivered dead ball they were nearly in front, with a free header at the back post wide of the post. Just after the half hour mark, Wallace galloped forward and controlled the ball well before clipping it into the box looking for the head of Waghorn, but it was just behind the striker and TNS were able to clear the danger. Eight minutes before the end of the first half, Tavernier got on the ball on the right and curled a teasing ball into the box which the defence was able to clear. However it was at a cost, with a Welsh defender going down requiring treatment and ultimately being stretchered off. At the half time break and the score locked at 0-0, the Gers made two changes with David Bates coming on for McCrorie and Windass coming on for Kranjcar Dalcio moved to the right hand side and he made an instant impact there, crossing into the box which was turned in off a New Saints defender to give the Gers the lead. The Light Blues nearly doubled the lead moments later Windass drifted out to the wide area and crossed to the back post for Cardoso, only for his header to flash wide of target. In the fifty-eighth minute, Wallace was adjudged to have fouled twenty five yards out from goal in a central position. The dead ball was struck cleanly and was headed for the top corner, only for Foderingham to dive to his right and parry the ball wide of target. TNS were level with half an hour left to play, the ball was played through the Gers defence following a free kick and Darlington was there to poke home underneath Foderingham and level up the match. Straight after the equaliser, Wallace, Foderignham, Miller and Holt came off and were replaced by Jordan Thompson, Jordan Rossiter, Jak Alnwick and Alfredo Morelos, who had just confirmed his move to the club on a three year deal earlier today. Rossiter went close with a chance after a ball into the box was cleared to the edge of the area. Rossiter kept his eye on it in the air and lashed a volley wide of target. With twenty minutes remaining, Joe Dodoo came on to replace Waghorn, Dalcio was replaced by Barrie McKay and Aidan Wilson came on for Cardoso. McKay moved to the left hand side and Dodoo worked from the right hand side, with Wilson a straight swap for the Portuguese centre half. In the seventy-third minute, the ball was delivered deep into the TNS box from the right hand side, with Windass getting a head on it, only for the keeper to pluck the ball out of the sky. With fifteen minutes remaining, the final chance of the match for the Light Blues was created by McKay on the left hand side, hammering a low cross into the near post area met by Dodoo, but his shot was off target and wide. RANGERS: Foderingham (Alnwick), Tavernier, McCrorie (Bates), Cardoso (Wilson), Wallace (Thompson), Jack, Holt (Rossiter), Miller (Morelos), Kranjcar (Windass), Dalcio (McKay) , Waghorn (Dodoo)

6superbarry6 14,618
Pretty poor result underlines the need to get rid of alot of these players,I'm sure Pedro knows this tho so not too worried about a glorified training session
Vanoli 4,654
Kranjcar, Waghorn and Holt must go. Tavernier must be upgraded on , Miller cannot play a supporting role and Bates cannot get anywhere near the first team. Its as simple as that, and it's not anything we didn't already know.
