J_RFC87 762
Badger said earlier maybe the reasons behind him being selected as captain might be more than his leadership skills on the park, i.e. his work of the pitch. He will give it his best shot as captain even though it might fail miserably, but lets get behind him and support him all the way. Its tough work being the captain of such a prestigious club.
Gid 46
Why choose a guy who isnt even a first team regular? Beyond belief!
nvager 498
We ALL support G Rae, but wish he had not been put in such a situation. -_-
nvager 498
Having said that it makes you wonder why a reserve IS captain?
the goal machine 7,989
i support him but it is weird a player who doesnt get a game to be captain
BlueIsTheColour 35
He didn't choose this situation so good luck to the guy tomorrow and lets hope he doesn't make a fool of himself like he did against St J. I will support him bt as for PLG..........
delparlane 5,986
I will give Gav my backing (and PLG my barracking), even if I find this whole situation ludicrous.
Ayebrox 0
PLG has spoken before about how he likes Rae as a character.Rae will be a 'yes man', he won't rock the boat and that's exactly what PLG is looking for at this time.I'm sure Rae will receive great support from all Rangers fans, he is not at fault here. Gid 46
Rae has my support, but how a guy who wasnt considered good enough to even get a game is now the captain of the club is a joke.
craigeee 60
There ain't really anyone else at the club that could take on the captains role ...

A dont know why he has been given the captaincy only 2days ago he said he wanted to leave the club so how come some1 that says that is given the captaincy because in my eyes if sum1 is sayin that then they are not commited to the cause!! A will back Rae and any other Rangers player who puts the jersey on and will also get behind the team but that wont stop me singin oh barry barry durin the games
Ayebrox 0
If the player was behind Barry you might think he'd turn it down. I'm sure Barry would want Rae to accept the responsibility, in the end Rae must do what is best for the club, the same way I trust that Barrys actions have been made with the clubs best interests are heart. Stardog 11
TBH I think this is a good kick up the arse for Barry Ferguson. He might've been in the mindframe that he's the first choice so he can do/say what he wants, so hopefully this will kick him into gear when he returns. Especially if we win convincingly (not likely ).
kirsty_baird_26 0
Despite everything thats happened its not Rae's fault therefore i will back him 100%
docspiderman 1,302
Rae never has and never will be good enough to play in the 1st team. I have watched him being outclassed in the reserves and have always considered him to be Scottish 1st division material.Given Le Quen's ignorance about Rangers and the SPL I think there is a good chance that he thinks Rae is the Rae (Alex) who was vice captain previously.Someone who is not good enough for Aberdeen should not be considered for selection and certainly not as captain. Rohan 26
I think that possibly that today's result could have a big say in PLG's future, if Rangers lose i think he will be sacked.would it be worth losing 1 game to get rid of a man causing so much of a mess? Muff 245
Not Rae's fault and he must be feeling rather weird at the moment. Don't agree with the decision as I think Rae is a poor footballer. Good luck to him tho.I hope he does not get offered a new contract tho.

Good luck to him tho.I hope he does not get offered a new contract tho. Agreed. Best of luck for tomorrow but after that, I have seen nothing to make me think the guy is Rangers class. And given that PLG and others were talking about operating with a smaller squad, we can hardly afford so many players who rarely feature.
bearwhocares 0
Good luck to Gavin. I think hes a genuine guy and really wants to do well for us.He has suffered because of injuries and not had a lot of luck since he joined the club. I don't think you can compare him to Barry as a footballer but this might just be the making of him.He only thought about leaving as there was no future as long as Barry was getting a game.Either way I hope ALL the fans get behind him today when he pulls on that jersey.I'm hurting but I will always support the team. excoriate 0
Rae never said he wanted to leave the club, he said he might be forced to save his career.Rae is right to accept the captaincy, refuse this role, why? He is showing commitment. Its hardly brown nosing, its hardly showing he is a yes man, its proving he wants to play and wants the responsibility.Boo'ing Rae today is a possibility, but I would be absolutely gutted if that was the case. It doesn't show support for Barry, or for our team whose only strength right now is its support.
