Wee bit about the Ulster United stadium

The first football game played at night under lights in Eastern Canada was played in Toronto at Ulster Stadium on October 29, 1930 between Oshawa and Toronto Balmy Beach. It was opened in 1925 under the ownership of the Ulster United Soccer Club.  In the 1930's close to 9,000 fans regularly attended to watch games. That was was the case on May 21, 1930 when Glasgow Rangers played Toronto Ulster United in soccer.

There was also a dog racing track. It was located at the corner of Greenwood and Gerrard Street East,  behind the Ulster Arms, also a formerly busy pub, for about 20 years. After World War II it was torn down to make room for housing development.

Interesting find OP.:tu:

I wonder if we have any special ties with present day Canadian clubs?

Also, it made me wonder what present day team in Canada has the biggest crowds?

Outwith the OF - do they compare with our bigger clubs?
