We all know his legs have gone but reading this thread tonight you'd have thought we had lost.

He had a decent game tonight and he's very easily the most gifted player in Scottish football right now. Someone name another?

He's probably the most gifted player that's been in Scottish football since the De Boers??? and it's a damn fucking shame we're not seeing him at his peak.

I would prefer that he didn't start this weekend but that's what happens in the big games with the luxury players. Can't deny the guy has class though.

Cant be a gifted footballer if you cant run as fast as at least some of the players on the pitch. If you mean that he could do more keepy ups than the rest you might be right. Given loads of time on the ball without being tackled he can play a good pass and sometimes a decent shot but his days as a top footballer are over. He didnt have anything close to a decent game tonight (at least not what I would call decent). I know he tried his best but he isnt good enough even at this level.

Oh he is finished mate. Totally agree, but he is absolutely gifted and had an impact tonight. Try and remember how many players he had surrounding him in the second half and then try and guess what the Motherwell half-time team talk was. Who's the most gifted player you can think of in Scottish football before him?

Only player that created anything. Infact, he might have been the only player who made an effective pass longer than 5 yards.

It's clear  that his best days are behind him but it shows where the rest of our midfielders are when he was the stand out.

Nowhere near. He joined us from a second division American team where he was making $5k p/w

Kevin Kyle joined us from the dole Q having had a failed darts career and we paid him 4x his expected wage. Probably paid him off too

Kevin Kyle joined us and was offered a wage on a par with other 'senior' pros at the club.

If Kranjcar is earning 20k p/w that makes him one the 2/3 highest earning players at the club.

It was a tongue in cheek reference to the way we have done business over recent years. Kyle admitted himself he was expecting a grand a week and was offered 4k straight off the bat.

Personally given Nico's pedigree I'd be surprised if he wasn't one of our higher earners. The club obviously didn't envisage his physical problems when he signed. God knows why not right enough

He's joined us from a league where they literally use high school stadiums for league games, there's not much money in the NASL and he was one of the top earners there.

We're struggling to put together a decent starting 11 each week.  Hererra and Krankcar have barely kicked a ball all season yet they started last night because they're the best we currently have.  There's threads slagging these two off but who the fuck else is there?

He is a very good footballer, you can still see that, but his mind is writing cheques his body can no longer cash.

When the legs have went, well, you just don't recover from that. No amount of training or conditioning can roll back the years. It's like watching a once great boxer who still has all the ability, can still see the gaps, but can no longer pull the trigger in the fraction of a moment when they materialise.

Its all guesswork and rumours really but the first team squad as stated in the accounts was 10.4m for 2017 - so this would not include the likes of Pena and Alves.

So that means the average wage is 8kpw - however looking at the squad there will be a good few under that so given that he was persuaded to move from the US to Scotland the rumour of 20k does not sound far fetched

I Thought he tried really hard tonight.

He was still off the pace, but actually better than I expected.

Perhaps he just needs game time.

He won't, of course, be the player he once was but getting more games might see him become useful to the team as he gets as match fit as he is now capable of becoming.

Nah, he's an impact player all day long and only capable of bringing something to the game the last 10 -15 mins or so. There's no way he should start against the scum at the weekend, as he will be blowing out of his backside after only 20 mins and we would be effectively one man down. Dreadful signing.

He was persuaded to move from a league where they play in public parks and players earn an average of around $60k per year.

The 10.7m would include: Barton, Gilks, Rossiter, Garner Dodoo, Hill. All of whom would have been earning decent wages down south (more than Kranjcar would in NASL). Then there's Senderos, Wallace, Miller.

'd be amazed if Barton, Gilks, Rossiter and Hill weren't all earning at least 50% more than him.
