He's hardly terrible, clearly lost a bit in his legs now but the guy wins everything in the air and has some leadership and organisational skills that we don't have elsewhere.

Should be captain for me and the fact he isn't is a bit of an insult to what he has achieved in the game.  Alves next to a young homegrown CB would be ideal...  unfortunately due to injuries we've struggled to put together a good consistent combination.

You're fucking at it.

The only insult here is him ripping the cunt out of us. Getting paid a fortune to keep himself fit for his national team.

He can get as far to fuck as possible, as soon as fucking possible.

Absolutely fed up hearing about him needing game time for the world cup. About time he started performing for the team that pays his wages instead of some dream he has of playing in a world cup which on current form he should be no where near.

Seems to be a strange scape goat amongst the fans for some reason.

Hes not brilliant but he hardly deserves the over the top criticism after every game.

Seems to be one of those social media agendas where you have to agree with everyone.

He's better than Martin

How much is he making each week? Not so strange that he's a "scapegoat" along with the fact that he's rubbish.

he WAS a great player but he is done and has been pish for us. Another painful lesson about players who will "stroll" it up here i.e Barton, Krancjar and Senderos. We need to wisen up and stop spunking what little money we have topping up their pensions.

Wilson has been a big loss imo.

Alves has to be shown the door end of the season.

DW was far from perfect, nor was he as bad as some suggest.

Can imagine it was hard work being benched for some of the clowns we’ve put at CB this season.

Bruno is clearly going through some sort of motions, keeping his fitness ticking over til the WC.

End of.

Best CB on display today was our ex-full back in the red jersey.

He literally never tackles. He never goes to ground. You'd be lucky if he's attempted a half dozen tackles on the ground all season.

Number of folk on here with the ‘Bruno’ll sort him out’ patter.

Broon cemented him last week - was there any sign of retribution?

Not a chance!

Do you actually rate him?

I think he's been fine. Far from brilliant and perhaps expectations but done a decent job.

Just dont understand the over the top criticism he gets and always seems to get singled out after defeats for no reason.

We were poor today but the only person who gets a thread on here is Alves. I find it strange. He was hardly worse than anyone else but he's the guy in the firing line.

Why would a centre back be in direct competition with a centre midfielder?

Why not?

Bags of opportunities - corners, free kicks, etc?

He’s not nailed to the 18 yard line you know - even if it does look like it most of the time.

Sounds like you’re trying to make excuses.

Try harder.....

What is about us that makes even a guy like Alves turn into a fragile shadow of himself? Where did his famous aggression go?

The whole club is timid from top to bottom, terrified of doing anything in case it goes wrong.

Alves is a special case, he's got so much fear that he'll miss the World Cup through injury that he's turned into a shitebag.

Just watched the goal back on SSN.

BA just let it all happen around him, from Broadfoot’s knockdown to failing to react to Mulumbu’s bobbly shot.

Going through the motions.
