His success down south has been very hit and miss. But we only need to look at Steve Clarke to understand what we consider “jobber” managers are able to achieve in this league. No one wanted Clarke but now a few folk are clamouring for him. We could do worse than Pardew. Wouldn’t write him off but equally wouldn’t be blown away by his appointment.
