The Dutch player picked him up and yellow carded him. The ref took it in his stride and had a laugh with him. rewind back to Gazza doing it against one of our referees. DrLaudrup 4,549 Posted April 30, 2018 Share Posted April 30, 2018 We were successful then so the scandal of that was somewhat forgotten but that was genuinely one of the most embarrassing episodes of refereeing in this country I have ever seen. Almost as bad was Halliday being sent off for inciting a riot with a clenched fist from the centre circle. It is always harder when we are not winning, we pick up on these things more. Scottish referees are waaay to lenient with the hammer throwers and the game is far more physical in Scotland than any league I've watched. With Heart and Hand 8,949 Posted April 30, 2018 Share Posted April 30, 2018 Scottish football may not be as rich as some other countries leagues, but surely there is enough money to bring in better refs from Europe or England for big games like Cup semis and finals or for old firm games and other derbies ive never been one to believe that the refs cheat us, but the standards of refs is terrible.
