Not so Bad ?

Thanks for posting that bud. It's interesting to get a perspective from outside.

Pains me to say it but this paragraph, whilst completely unpalatable, is hard to argue with. We have fallen so fucking far it's unbelievable. Dave King has failed us spectacularly.

"The short-term outlooks for the two clubs could thus scarcely be more contrasting.  In both a commercial and a sporting sense, there’s no real element of competition between the clubs. Indeed, celtic could even be thought of as inhabitants of a post Old Firm world. Where Rangers will continue to be (unfavourably) compared to celtic, the latter are almost never likened to the former. To do so would be entirely unfair. For now, at least, celtic exist in an entirely different tier in the hierarchy of European football."

The gap feels wider than ever and serious investment is needed desperately. If only the Souness contingent had won through with the rumoured cash that would have been made available. Instead we've had Dave's meagre budget and wildcard appointments; years wasted and fuck all gained.

Taking the champions league out of the equation they are ahead of us by 20-30M per year. Its not investment we need its growth as that is the only way we will compete.

Decent article actually. but i feel that cellic have coasted this year and when they had to turn on the burners - certainly against us - they did so emphatically.

However, we need them to come back to us a bit as well as us trying to catch them. For a start, that means no euro group stage qualification for them. They will then make a loss for the fiscal year unless they sell players. That puts pressure on the squad and the large wage bill they have puts pressure on the finances. If that happens we have to capitalise.

correct .it's not the need for a 30m transfer kitty that's needed .it's the business model to support a significantly larger wage bill

which makes me wonder how much we are losing out on thanks to to the onerous contracts that still need sorted out

Scum had a blip when the hammerings in Europe took a toll on them. Once European games stopped they improved a bit.

Every team suffers from doings like that with confidence and self doubt. One win against scum will change things. Not transformation but it will help us compete. It will come.

Well it says we're losing money and need to be smart with transfers. We're not going to be able to simultaneously spend less and get significantly better players in. So it correctly identifies we're fucked.

We’re not fucked. The club just needs to get on an even keel financially first and foremost.

thought the catering deal and a few others were still in place .

most of the small ones would cost more to get rid of than they would actually earn

Lifted this link from FF, hope the poster doesn’t mind.

Perspective from a US journo.

That’s a decent article - the doomsayers on here will hate it but decent review.

and therein lies the problem...if no real investment is coming for players it makes it very difficult.

Us supporters want to see the team compete for everything with a chance to win so we want better and better all the time, look how we were all flying back in March when we had the chance to be neck and neck with them and put the pressure on before it all went tits up...oh man if only Morelos had hit the net instead of the post we wouldn't be where we are now and would have continued to progress.

King has been BS'ing us and taking our money and the soft loans to keep the lights on NOT investing in the squad...when is it going to change?

Now, if the board turned round and said we have a x year plan, we are going to streamline the squad, restructure the backroom staff, overhaul the development squad and youth set-up and invest our funds in a team for the future but don't expect us to win the league or cups in that time although we will still be pushing for it and may actually win a few, everybody would be up in arms wanting them out. But, if it set us up to have a strong base, a home developed squad, young players to sell on as we invest in others that will strengthen the team then we could possibly be in a much stronger position than anyone else in the league.

Of course our patience would be tested to the max and if the board / King continued to feed us shit then it isn't worth a fuck. But, if they do stick to it and we are onside then more investment will quickly come in.
