Why do certain parts of our support have this obssesion with trying to bring former players back to the club. It's fucking weird and insular. I don't know of any other fanbase that does this.

Personally I couldn't stand McKay and was glad when he left.  I think Murphy is a much better player.  However, I know Barrie did have a lot of fans amongst our support.

Aye Barrie, kris Boyd , Naismith , lafferty,  Davis , Whittaker Alan Hutton Charlie Adam jelavic Weiss boughera  Wilson bates Hemmings  etc etc  and jardel ... lets just put them all in the one t

I read an opinion piece earlier on today regarding Barrie McKay:

Rangers must make stunning move to re-sign Barrie McKay from Nottingham Forest less than a year after he was given his marching orders.

The Ibrox academy product would be a brilliant addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad as the manager begins the process of beefing up a team that has fallen woefully short this season.

As revealed by Football Insider, McKay is one of nine Forest players who have been told by manager Aitor Karanka they can find new clubs as they do not feature in his plans going forward.

Forest finished in 17th place in the Championship this season and Karanka feels big decisions need to be made on the squad if they are to challenge for promotion next season.

McKay, 23, was brought to the City Ground last summer by ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton and was a mainstay of the team in the opening half of the season, scoring five goals and seven assists by early December.

But the attacking midfielder was frozen out virtually from the moment Karanka took over and has made just two league appearances since January.

With the former Middlesbrough boss clearly not a big admirer of McKay, Rangers must take advantage to bring the one-time Scotland international back to Ibrox.

It would be a travesty if a player of such sumptuous technique and class was sidelined or left wasting away for much longer.

And you were accusing Dude of starting useless threads the other day

"I think McKay is worth persevering with for a while . Yes , like Clough and Cummings he his small and lightweight , but unlike those two, he has plenty of pace and skill ,  and on occasions this season he has shown flashes of brilliance  His trouble is when hes good , hes very good , but when hes bad he's shocking , but definetly worth a few more chances in my opinion."

From a Nottingham forest fan, sort of sums it up. If Gerrard thinks he can install the confidence in him to allow a more consistent show of brilliance then he might be a good shout for coming back. Playing at a level above our league will have done him no harm either.

Would run up to a full back, stop and cut back, and lay the ball back the way for fun up here.

But only if he had Lee Wallace to pass to. Otherwise, he would just get brushed off the ball. Total waste of space whose career peaked years ago and he never developed beyond that. We were told that he was a great loss and would be a big star in England. Some of us thought he would drift down the leagues there before making a move back north to the likes of St Mirren. He should be nowhere near Ibrox under any circumstances.

As I thought he would, he has sunk without trace in England. Absolutely no way we should be bringing this guy back.

Was there not someone on here "guaranteeing" that McKay's next move would be for 6 or 10 million?
