Farewell Josh Windass

Recommended Posts

Nothing more frustrating than when raw talent is stymied by a bad attitude. He’ll probably have retired before it hits him that plenty of less gifted players achieved much more in the game than him by working hard and getting their head right. Massively fortunate to have played for Rangers.

Talent isn't the question. But as we've learned with many of our signings in recent years, the key to be successful for us is both talent and mentality.

One of the big successes of Gerrard (and Mark Allen is has to be said) has been instilling a far stronger mentality and togetherness in our squad, and signing players that buy into that. Windass lacks insight into his own weaknesses. If he stopped believing his own hype and the constant chat from his equally limited father, got his head down and trained hard, found consistency, was more of team player and less of a petulant child he might go on to make something of his career. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have the intelligence to realise this - so he is probably at his level. He looked miserable to sign for Wigan. He knows its a step down is doing exactly what he's always done, blaming everyone but himself and his own attitude.

Hate is maybe too strong but the only Rangers player I’ve actively taken a strong dislike to. Can’t belive how many chances the boy had. Enjoy playing in a soulless Rugby League stadium you wank of a boy while we turn over decent European opposition at the Motherland.
