RYAN Kent believes he is playing the best football of his life because of how happy he is at Rangers.

The winger excelled after racing back from injury to star against celtic before the winter break and it continued an impressive start to life at Ibrox for the Liverpool loanee.

At 22-years-old the Gers are Kent’s fifth loan club and he admits the Light Blues won him over way before he found himself celebrating Old Firm success.

Speaking to RangersTV Kent said: “I have bought into Rangers since I got here, it is an unbelievable club and the fans are brilliant.

“I think with the team we have now it is a really good squad but when you are playing in those games, the big derby games, it makes you realise what a big club it is.

“This is the most settled I have been at a club, I think just the way I have been welcomed into the team, the people I have got around me in regards to the coaches has made me feel really settled here.

“I am enjoying my football which is the main thing, I think when you are in an environment where you are comfortable then that is when you get the best performances out of your game.

“I had to push myself a lot to play against celtic, I only trained maybe once or twice before that game so it was touch and go to see if I could get back for it. But I managed to and I managed to play 90 minutes.

“I don’t think I was expected to play the full 90 minutes but in those types of games adrenaline gets you through it.

“It was definitely the best feeling I have ever had in football, just the scale of the game, the result and what it meant to the fans and everyone at the club.”

Even though Kent managed to get himself fit for December 29 he still confesses he was thankful for the winter break after pushing himself to his limits to play.

He joined up with the squad in Tenerife and was ready to roll back the years at Cowdenbeath on Friday evening, had the fixture not been postponed – Kent made his Liverpool debut in a similar fixture away to Exeter in the 2016 FA Cup.

He continued: “It was probably a much needed break for most of the boys because they had played a lot of games recently.

“It was nice to get some sun and for everybody to get together again and introduce new players to the squad.

“It possibly wasn’t the best time for me to stop playing, after a good performance and a good victory but really it was a much needed break for me.

“Even though I have been out for two months everything happened quite quickly with coming back from injury, so it was good to get some rest for my muscles.”

 

Great to hear the wee man speak like this. Can only bode well for us trying to get him in the summer, if that's what he wants!

We are the 5th  club he has been on loan to since 2015/16 and he seems to have found his "home" great little player with huge potential, if we sign this one up that will be tremendous business and add that to the list of already impressive signings.

According to wiki he has played 106 games with a solitary one in a cup game for Liverpool.

As much as think he is great player, he still has a long way to go before he is the final product. Everyone remembers his assist right now but he has also had some mediocre performances. I do think however, we have the right coaching staff to develop young talent these days. At 25, he should be worth a fortune.

Big time for two reasons, for one the buzz about the place will be off the scale and the players will be hero’s, and the prospect of champions league football or a relegation fight at a bottom level premier league club should make his choice an easy one if football not bank balance is his motivation

Pretty sure he’d agree to another season loan at least, but what a signing he’d be if it was possible. If it’s not crazy money it has to be done as at 22 he’s only going to go for more when the time comes

There's no doubt he's got quality. I'd worry that the EPL prices would make him unattainable for us though, as playing strongly for us is only going to add to his value. 

Given his potential Liverpool would likely want north of 5-6 million for him, likely more which i'd imagine is just out of our price range. EPL teams seem to want to keep their better young players and let them go on loan. An example was Roberts at celtic who I thought was decent for them but City were happy demanding big money (I think 8-9 million they asked) and loaning him again.
