If Rangers is a business

Recommended Posts

I am a director of a medium size business ?50m turnover.

If I had a scenario like minty has I would take action.

You have a very sucessful location and you recruit a superstar manager to take your business forward.

The new manager brings with him his own team.

The superstar salesman has in 6 months won no new business and indeed the manager has him only employed on admin duties-not fit to see customers.

Added to this your best performer walks out

The location has gone from being the areas leading player to an also ran in the field you are employed in.

If this was happening in my business- as a director I would have an obligation to step in and sort out the mess.

Regardless of the package- the so called superstar manager would be gone. Quite frankly he is not doing what he is being paid to do

Murray should act like the businessman he is and get rid of Le Guen, for the sake for RFC he has to act now

The theory would work in a lot of different industries but not sport.

Sir Alex had a mince for 3 seasons at Man Utd now hes in his 20th year as manager. Football is different from most other private/public industry sectors.

I agree with this to a certain extent.

However, where I think the business analogy fits perfectly is in terms of clearing up a mess like this. I'm not advocating who should go, at least not till I hear some facts, but I do think the Chairman on behalf of shareholders has an obligation to act here as he would in any other business.

At the very least, a competent Chairman should personally visit the location of the problem (which he is apparently doing/en route to do). He should simultaneously issue a statement indicating that he is aware of reports in the press and is personally getting involved to ensure the best outcome. Then he should sit the involved parties down and get the clearest possible idea of what is happening. Then he should make a decision that he believes is in the interest of the business and communicate that as soon as possible to the market.

And to that extent, I agree with SB that Murray should have a business head on in this matter.
