G.E.C. 18,633
Amoruso is worthy of a shout. Was part of a good Fiorentina team when Serie A was the best league in the world. Rejected Man Utd to sign for us as well.

McEwan's Lager 30,259
The more I think about this Ronald de Boer was probably our biggest signing ever, let alone since Gazza, alongside Souness. Bigger than Gascoigne and Laudrup in terms of their stature in the game and what they had achieved in their career. Perth_Campsie_Ger

TopCat 4,511
RDB by a distance imo. Honorable mentions to Dado Prso and Lorenzo Amoruso too.
Clemdog 39,389
I funnily enough never really thought about it being De Boer. I was at the age were I didn't fully appreciate how big a name he was, but I suppose he could be our biggest signing ever.

Negri's lovechild 13,593
Ronald de Boer for me. Think he was 28/29 when he signed. Absolutely world class. We could do with a playmaker of half his talent now.

Signing the England captain must be up there in that debate. Clemdog
Jamie0202 12,006
At the time I thought Guivarch was a huge coup. Main striker for the French team which just won the World Cup. What a disappointment that turned out to be.

I fell out of football for about 18 months or so at that age and I always assumed we signed De Boer at 31/32 after a number of years at Barca as he was on the wind down. I didn’t realise he was still at the tail end of his peak, had only moved to Barca a year or so before that and still had elite clubs after him. lidorfc 6,664
R. De Boer was the first name the popped into my head, could have joined Man U, joined the best club in the world instead, standard. GaryMc and ForeverAndEver
