TMB 14,167
The stunning Rangers attacking stat that has Steven Gerrard's side mixing it with Europe's best It's fair to say Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is spoiled for choice when it comes to his attacking options this season. In Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe he has two prolific strikers to call upon, while the deadline day arrival of Ryan Kent should only add to the attacking threat. You probably don't need numbers to establish that Morelos and Defoe know where the back of the net is but one stat certainly backs Rangers are mixing with the very best in Europe. According to an analysis of 35 European leagues by the CIES Football Observatory , the Ibrox club average the third most shots on target per game. On average the opposition goalkeeper is tested 9.8 times per match, more than Manchester City , Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus manage. Only RB Salzburg, with goal machine Erling Braut Håland up-front, and free-flowing Ajax manage more shots on target per game, with 10.3 and 9.8 respectively. Following Rangers are Italian giants Lazio with 8.8, while celtic manage 6.7 shots on target per game. Neil Lennon would be quick to point out though that his side have scored 21 Premiership goals to Rangers' 16 in the six games so far this season. The Hoops are also pretty solid defensively, with the 12th fewest shots on target conceded in the whole of Europe. On average they allow just two per game while Rangers allow 3.2, putting them third in the division behind Aberdeen. Europe's top ten sharpshooters 10 - Dinamo Brest (Belarus) 9 - Napoli (Italy) 8 - PSV (Netherlands) 7 - Slavia Prague (Czech Republic) 6 - Manchester City (England) 5 - Maccabi Haifa (Israel) 4 - Lazio (Italy) 3 - Rangers (Scotland) 2 - Ajax (Netherlands) 1 - RB Salzburg (Austria)

I'm surprised at these stats. It seems Rangers are a very attacking team. I know we don't play with a number 10 but I do wish we had that option as I think we still lack an attacking threat from central midfield. Most of our attacking play comes down the wings. Davis and Jack have been great in midfield having a 3rd option who can score us 10+ from central midfield would be great hopefully Aribo can be the man to do it. I think we are quite dangerous in attack, sometimes it feels like we are trying to walk the ball into the net, our team is screaming out for somebody with even half the ability of an Albertz I actually feel sorry for the young mob who just missed out watching the big man, We’ve never had a player like him since, if he fired a shot on target it was past the keeper before he even reacted, what a player! Jack & Davis, Kamara & Aribo are great players but they can't shoot very well from distance. I used to love watching Mendes shoot from outside the box. ( obviously Albertz )

Mendes was decent pure technique but big Albertz was pure power and could shoot from anywhere

If only we could find a player like that now.

The killer passes Mendes could pull off were amazing. Put guys right through on goal. We haven't had a player like that since he left. He was a Champions League winner in his prime and we got him for £3m. That would never happen these days.
