A celtic fan blamed the break up of his relationship for hurling sectarian abuse at Rangers fans.

Conner McMillan shouted “You orange b*******s” at visiting supporters outside celtic Park in March this year.

The 21 year-old Kilmarnock man made the remark in front of police before the match that the Scottish champions won 2-1.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard McMillan had split up with his girlfriend of two years a few days before the match.

His lawyer Sat Singh said: “This was completely stupid and idiotic behaviour.

“It’s fair to say the build-up to the game was a difficult time for him as they had lived together. He moved into his grandmother’s house.

“He had been drinking that day before committing the offence.”

McMillan pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm on Friday

Sheriff Shona Gilroy deferred sentence until January next year for him to show good behaviour.

McMillan has already been banned by celtic from attending games.

I can some day in the near future see some Taig lawyer using the "my client called them dirty orange bastard's because they are m'lud" as an excuse and the sheriff will agree and just dismiss the case.

Scotland as a country is a republican cesspit

So splitting from your partner of 2 years justifies sectarian abuse in the eyes of his lawyer. Does that mean if you split after 5 years assault is acceptable and after 40 years murder is allowed. Worryingly the sherrif has deferred sentence to allow him to show good behaviour, which of course he will, and he will get a small fine.

Usually admonished and dismissed after GB

Not up to their usual defence standards.       It would not have been surprising if they had tried to map out some reasons to claim that it was Rangers' fault.    For example:

The butterfly that landed on Dave King's lawn in SAfrica disturbed some deep burrowing beastie....

which caused it to bite through a communications cable...

which caused a power outage in S.Africa ......

which caused a ship leaving Durban to be delayed in sailing...…...

which meant it was late in arriving at Southampton to offload its goods ……..

which meant that the lorry carrying a toy stuffed gorilla which the defendant had ordered on the internet via Amazon was very late in being delivered to his girlfriend ........

which upset her and was a decisive factor in their breakup …...

which led to his drinking etc and we know the rest.   So it was really Dave King's fault for allowing the butterfly to land where it did.

No, he'll get admonished. And so he should. Just like calling someone a fenian cunt should be.

Bloody sticks and stones.
