Rangers can today announce that Jamie Barjonas has penned a new deal with the club, extending his contract until 2021.

The year extension, following on from a new contract in November 2017, which would have seen him through to 2020, comes after the talented youngster was made a first-team player last month

Barjonas, who is now 20-years-old, has spent the entirety of his career at Rangers after signing aged just nine.

Pointless, just like the Hardie extension.

At least JB will be training with the 1st team squad rather than having his contract extended and punted on loan for the duration of it. So theoretically, he could offer us something.

Not that anything will come if it, he'll leave in due course having made no impact.

TBH I  feel the exact same way mate. Hope it works out for him and the club....... but I'm not holding my breath tbh.

Yeah I’m not one for belittling youth prospects but he’s never really done it for me in age group games I’ve watched, let alone the admittedly limited first team games he’s been involved in.

Would rather have the likes of barjonas and Kelly making squads of 20.. to the 18 named than loaning players in that are not even playing...

Ie King, ps docherty cant get axsniff either. Hopefully ojos contract thing has been hit and we dont see much more of him. Aribo also needs brought out the environment, hes raking in supposedly 20,000 a week.

King, docherty need a sniff at some point

King, Docherty, Murphy, Polster, Halliday & Flanagan rarely make the 18 let alone the starting 11. That is a lot of talent/wages being used up when we could be bleeding in some up and coming youngsters. Gerrard has hinted at trimming the squad in January.  I still think we don't bleed enough youngsters to the first team despite a growing crop of talent.

2 players for every position is what the plan was and why we have those guys. The time will come when we need them and hopefully they’ll deliver more than one of the youths.

You mean two players for every position except one 😉

So pointless then.

Will do him no harm at all training alongside the likes of Davis and Jack. Not to mention the good influence Defoe will have on the younger guys. Then working with Stevie and Gary mac on a daily basis. Hope the boy cracks it seeing as he has been here from a very young age.

Potentially pointless.

But giving a player 12 months to prove himself in the squad and working with him isnt pointless, it's very sensible. Giving Hardie the extension and punting on loan definitely was absurd. I guess we'll see in a years time where this ends up, at least the lad has a chance to prove his worth.
