They could’ve tried switching wing but I suspect Brown and McGregor would’ve swapped positions and he would still have been getting man marked.

We maybe could’ve explored the space left if we had an attacking centre mid of a quality RW but we don’t.

Frimpong’s pocket

majorly disappointed with mark allan's connections that we picked up fucking aaron nemane and brandon barker from city, and they get frimpong for nothing from city who is clearly a very talented, strong attacking full back.

If he falls apart because a bang average Lego man marks him then he wasn’t worth  7mill.
The man marking never stopped him making himself available for balls into the box where he continually made the wrong run.

Only the English market caused the 7 million price tag , we all watched a 2 and a half 3 million player tops last season

He seems to prefer the 'free roaming' game but we missed him on the line putting pressure on THEM out wide.

Makes me think Gerrard got his tactics wrong on this one.

When Kent had the ball he had Brown and Frimpong next to him.  He had no space to run at people and cause havoc the way he normally does.  Barisic was too busy marking Forest so there was no overlapping full-back and little support.

He was being man marked by Brown.  Often doubled up on with Brown and Frimpong.  He had no space and was being crowded out.

Brown's pish though, he'll be man marked by a lot better than that clown.

Pissed me off seeing Barker being pish down the left.  Should have been Kent with Stewart where Kent was wandering about.

Stewart has done well whenever he’s given the chance.  Ojo, Arfield, not Aribo are doing it over on the RW.  Stewart deserves a chance out there on the right.  He’s played that position plenty for other sides.

If you watch the game again you’ll notice Brown was never more than a few feet from Kent.  When Kent had the ball he had two men on him instantly.  Kent wants to pick up the ball and run at defenders but there wasn’t the space for that and very little players supporting him.

We should be exploiting the space left by Brown but we don’t have the attacking central midfielders to do that.  Aribo seen plenty of the ball but he can’t make anything happen because he’s not a RW.

We did exploit it tho. We weren’t short of chances yesterday

He may not have had a great game, but he kept them occupied. It is no coincidence that he was quiet but they didn’t ever get a grip of midfield. All our players were doing their bit, even Kent IMO.

My major annoyance is that we didn’t create nearly enough in the second half. I think Gerrard got the subs wrong, but they also got a lift from their striker coming on, as well as the 10 man effect.

Exactly this. He still played an important role tbh, as that much attention on one player means more freedom for others.

He’s never going to be Mr. Consistent, he’s just not that sort of player, but even when he has a quiet game he’s still capable of flashes of brilliance that we won’t get from elsewhere.
