We could end up with 2 games in hand over the papes if Ross County Cup tie versus Ayr united is postponed or ends in a draw as they will then play the replay the night we are due to play them in the league.

Scottish Cup ties take priority over league fixtures so there's no chance the cup tie is moved.

Won't even get into the mess us getting to the 1/4s of the europa league would cause

That hibs game on the Friday night back in December has caused a lot of this. The leagues should be able to determine which time TV matches kick off in euros or World Cup years.

Shades of 2008 all over again through no fault of our own

And the paedo's off to Japan in May.

The SPFL face a fixture headache over Rangers’ outstanding game against St Johnstone if the Ibrox side reach the Europa League quarter finals. Steven Gerrard’s side were due to play the Perth men in the league in November but had to postpone it due to a clash with their Betfred Cup semi-final.

And league chiefs are now sweating over a potential dilemma as there will be NO available midweek dates before the split if the Light Blues progress through the next two rounds in Europe. celtic’s Premiership trip to Tynecastle was also cancelled that weekend after they reached the League Cup last four but the Hoops played Hearts in mid-December. Gerrard’s men were unable to play that midweek as they already had a Friday night trip to Easter Road after their weekend clash with Hibs was brought forward 24 hours for TV.

And the scheduling situation could get worse with both clubs already facing rearranged league games in a jam-packed fixture list from the weekend of their Betfred Cup final showdown at Hampden.

Rangers are due to host Ross County at Ibrox on January 29 with Neil Lennon’s Hoops travelling to Perth the same evening to take on St Johnstone. However, if the Staggies are held to a draw or their Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Ayr United is postponed this weekend then the replay or rearranged tie is scheduled to take place that midweek. The same applies to celtic’s clash with Partick Thistle at Firhill as the Scottish Cup takes precedence over the league and new dates would have to be found for the games.

It will also be the case for future Scottish Cup rounds with league games scheduled to take place on cup replay and rearranged dates. And it could prove hugely problematic for the SPFL if the Rangers and celtic continue to progress in Europe and the Scottish Cup ahead of the split on April 4.

Both sides are strong favourites to progress in their Europa League last-32 ties against Braga and Copenhagen respectively with the round of 16 games taking place on March 12 and 19 and quarter finals on April 9 and 16. The lack of available dates is one of the main reasons the SPFL can’t entertain the idea of postponing the entire Scottish Premiership fixture card ahead of Scotland’s huge Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Israel on March 26.

Would it not be sensible to extend the league season by a week now? I don't know all the logistical issues this might come up against but as a poster has suggested above it could impact upon the scum too. Extend the season now, create a little more space and avoid any potential problems instead of doing nothing and allowing all sorts of drama and fixture pile ups.

Even if things happen to go to plan this weekend and Ross County/St Johnstone win their games, it's not exactly unheard of for games to be postponed in February or March.  Problems could still unfold further down the line.

Pretty sure the season has been planned to finish early due to euros, the SC final isnt even last game of the season it's been brought forward, so extending league not really feasible.

Probably more likely to cause the taigs bother with all the away games at wee shitey grounds that can’t handle the weather, least with us having a lot of home games our matches are more likely to be played

Did wonder about that. Basically fucked then cause obviously we're making the Europa League final.

Makes it all the more surprising that popcorn teeth doesn’t want the games before Scotland’s qualifies postponed as that would be another one for us to try and squeeze into an already packed schedule.

Their stance on the Scotland games changed as soon as Christie’s ban was upheld, looked to me as just a dig at the sfa. No doubt that stance would  change again if it favours them later on.

Going to be hilarious when we’ve already won the league and send out our under 21s for both games whilst the first team are still onit

They would take the title back off us if we did that. 'Sporting integrity' ...

Said at time they played hearts nothing will convince me otherwise the SPFL let the scum play that night knowing we couldn't in a attempt to keep them ahead.

The decision to move the Hibs game to the friday was stupid at best and cynical at worst (they knew what they were doing imo) especially as they knew that we had a Europa (Thursday) game the week before and needed to play on the Sunday in between

Killed a midweek when they knew we had a high likelihood of needing it. The only obvious way to avoid this was to ensure neither us nor the taigs played on that Friday............. they chose to ignore the obvious............ they knew what they were doing

Only in this country could a team getting to the last 8 or beyond of UEFA competition cause absolute fixture chaos

If only it had happened before they would at least have previous experience to look at............ oh wait .... ffs

Any bad weather, any replays and we have an SFA/SPFL inflicted fuck up on our hands

Tele dictates when games are played. It’s down to BT. Stop looking for conspiracies when there really isn’t any

There 100% is whoever made the decision done so to give them a advantage nothing u can say changes my mind on that.
